Question How many iGaming industry conferences will you attend in calendar year 2019?

The Amsterdam Affiliate Conference was just completed last week, but the next set of conferences are coming up soon.

In fact, iGaming Business just announced that registration is already open for the Lisbon Affiliate Conference in the following post made earlier today:

    iGB Affiliate Lisbon, 16th - 19th October 2019

And you can also book a pass for the SiGMA conference in Malta, taking place the 26th - 30th November 2019 here:

    sigma.com.mt/register/

Personally, I attended the London Affiliate Conference in January, and plan to attend both the Lisbon Affiliate Conference and the SiGMA conferences this year, so my plans are for three conferences this year.

Besides voting in the poll, be sure to share which conferences you have attended and will be attending this year in a post.

    Michael

Unfortunately I cannot travel to any of them ,Since I had cancer my travel insurance would cost more than the trip itself. We go to USA without much concern on Insurance but cannot risk a trip to Europe ,looks like I have to wait another 3 years to be insurable again

Three for me this year (Lisabon coming up), the rest depends if I'm personally invited or not.

I will attend any of the gambling industry conferences that take place in the United States, I've been to 3 so far in 2019. It's great to finally have industry events closer to home.

Not a big fan of conferences, to be fair. Always managed to work perfectly without them. What's the catch for you pals?

Does that mean we might actually see you in Lisbon?

As for the poll question, went to London (ICE/LAC) this year and will be in Lisbon, so that's 2 this year, 3 if you count the 2 London conferences separately.

You could easily not attend a conference and your life won't change at all, but speaking from an operator point of view, I've made relationships with people over the years who I wouldn't have spoken to otherwise because they were either not affiliates/were competitors, or just worked for a company with a service I didn't need, who are now on the side of the fence where we can work together. So it's not always about the business you can do right now, but about building relationships for the future too.

It could also work the other way around where affiliates have switched over and started working for operators and perhaps have gotten their foot in the door because they already have a good relationship with management.

Another scenario and one that happens often, you'll be meeting with an affiliate manager you are already working with who doesn't take players from a geo you now have traffic from, but they have a good relationship with an affiliate manager at a group that does so they introduce you there and then. That introduction just happens to get you a better deal than you may have if you had found them on your own. I can't even count on both hands how many times this has happened.

There are many reasons for and against going to conferences, but from my POV the positives outweigh the negatives, so long as you're finding some value in them, even if it doesn't pay off until later.

Conferences are always a good way to go and biuld new relationships.

You never know from where the rabbit will show-up

There are plenty of opportunities that can raise up when you meet someone face 2 face.

I have been to London, Stockholm and Amsterdam so far. Really interested in going to Vegas this year. Heard it is the ONE to go to?

As mentioned above, I really feel that I always get something out of it. Even if you only meet up with affmanagers you already know, you build relationships. And there is always some nice parties .

I've been to three this year already and have a couple more on the list. Being in the United States I plan on attending any/all of those that pop up.

    SBC, Ice, Sigma, etc...

Now if someone can just plan one in Orlando and make it even closer to home

Orlando would certainly get my vote and a visit here (but why would that happen, it's only a great excuse to write off a trip to take the kids to Disney and clearly one of the cheapest travel destinations in the US) ....lol....or Tampa since that is only an hour and many want a casino to visit.

But what kind of insurance you need for foreign trip?
I think you must have at least insurance against accidents or civil liability.

Try to buy it here: https://www.worldnomads.com/
This is Australian insurance company that targeting on travelers. You may buy incurance online. No need medical checkup. For several days for conference i think it will be less than $100 (for VIP Insurance). You may also call to operator and ask all question.

Medical Insurance I have been to a hospital twice this year with some complications ,not cheap if out of the country. If you have preexisting condition they charge you a arm and leg in premiums but got turned down a few times since the big C .

I was hoping this was aside from Vegas. *cry*

I will DEFINITELY be in Vegas next year. Aside from the fact my friend in SD will be ready for a trip away from her kids, another of my best friends from Sydney is getting married there (and I'll be organising her bachelorette there too I believe), so it's the perfect excuse.

For me just the London conference. The Amsterdam conference I thought was rubbish, so I'd expect Lisbon is just as bad
