How many people currently live in your household?

Earlier today I was reflecting on the number of people l've lived with over the years. I decided that would make an interesting poll question.

Besides voting in the poll, I invite you to share how your household size has changed over time and how you felt about the changes.

Personally, my wife and I recently became empty nesters, so it's just the two of us now. Before that it was our youngest child and her friend for a few years. Two is more relaxing and easier in many ways, but also more predictable, which has its good and bad aspects. Definitely very different than my college experience when I lived in a fraternity house with close to 30 brothers.

Currently, it's four of us—me, my wife, and our two kids. The fraternity experience must have been something. I used to live in a Swedish dorm during my university years, and it was lonely, even though I shared a kitchen and shower with eight people. Today I love coming home to life, sound, and movement, but having small kids comes with its own challenges!

Currently 4, our eldest has just left to start University and it's undoubtedly changed the dynamic in the house.

Four for me and it will be that way for a while yet as my two kids are 5 and 9. I look forward to the days when we are back to the two of us but at the same time I don't want my kids to grow up too quickly

Kind of thought the same until we dropped our lad off on Saturday, the wife's been in bits ever since!

I'd say enjoy the years to come while they're still young (bar the 13-15 stage mind you )

Yeah, they are still quite sweet and listen to what we say (mostly), I am braced for the changes when they become teenagers.

In my case, it's hard to tell. Some months it's just my partner and me, while in others, the extended family is here (usually more than ten extra people). I think it's a Latin thing

We are 4 + Cat. Kids are still young, so will probably be another 12 years or so before we go down to 2 again

Over the years, my household size has shifted quite a bit. I started off living with roommates in college, usually 3-4 of us, which was fun but chaotic at times. Then it was just me and my partner for several years, which felt much calmer but a little quieter than I was used to.

Recently, though, we’ve welcomed my elderly parents to stay with us, so we're back to a larger household again. It’s been an adjustment, but I enjoy having family around.

In my actual house it is just my husband, myself and our dog, but we have a cottage attached to our property which my daughter and her husband live in. So I guess the answer is 4 on the property but 2 in the house
