Question How many times have you moved in the past 25 years?

The GPWA is in the midst of moving office locations. Our company has been in the same building for 25 years, and right now we are in the middle of moving to an entirely different building. It certainly is a lot of work to move all of our staff, and I hope I never have to do it again.

So for this week's poll I thought I would ask how frequently folks move. You can answer in terms of your personal residence, or if you operate a business outside your home, you can answer for that business.

Besides answering the poll, please share some background around why you moved, and how long you plan to stay at your current location.

I've moved a few times. Firstly, I was sharing a house with a woman who treated me like I was her boyfriend. We were just housemates, but she was a little bit delusional so I didn't stay there very long. So I moved out and rented a small bedsitter which was OK for a while but I couldn't have anyone over because there was only just enough room for a bed, a kitchenette and laundry. I spent most of my time online and worked on my sites. After saving up for a house deposit, I purchased a small apartment. It was in a rough neighborhood, so sometime after I got married, I sold it and purchased a nice house in a good suburb. The family grew by 2, so I sold that house and bought a bigger house.

Only moved twice, once out of my parents house then to a better place where I live now. All in the same town. Hoping to move one more time to somewhere tropical and then that is it!

About 15 times for me in 3 countries. A shaman (female) told me I have Gypsy blood in me, so that might explain it.

You mean the actual move or country to country (or both)? I must admit that I find moving less fun as time goes on...

I definitely mean the actual moving - horrible. We own a few properties so you are never really settled on were you want to be. However, it's different when you have a 13 year old daughter, since kids need to get their education and have some stability. For the time being i'm stuck to were i'm living, but once she's off to University we will start moving around and do a world tour - I don't think i will ever age out of moving around, but sometimes circumstances dictate!

Four times in total - from parents house to pokey flat, to slight less pokey flat, and again, then eventually bought the house that I'm in now.

I have been moving only within Brno 10x+

Now I have reached a new level of madness, because I am moving parallel residencies. I think there is a certain amount of changes that human mind can bear and then it is impossible to reach the feeling of "being home".

After 3 years im done with Brno. Of course, good beer, food ... bla bla so on.
Next goal is back into sun. Mallorca, ... maybe Cyprus or a cosy asian place.
There are still some years until kids have to go to school.

Brno is a hipster city and always was. Too many students, too lazy, too many good cafes and restaurants.

Geez, I feel boring after reading where everyone has moved about to. I've moved twice. Firstly from my parents home to a small house about 500 metres away and then to where I am now, probably about another 500m which I built and is larger.

This will probably do me for the next 20 or so years where I may downsize. Either that or I leave in a box.

Oops realized I made a bit of a mistake on the voting poll as looking back I realized in 1997 we moved - so instead of once as I voted in poll it should be twice!! Moved from Johannesburg to the Limpopo Province onto a farm ... escaping the rat race, and then two years ago we moved to the Western Cape .. also to a farm. As you can see I am very adventurous in moving around. All the above in South Africa. We have basically run our businesses from farms for the last 24 years!

Lost count of how many times I moved around my home town. Currently living in Chiang Mai and last year was living in Prague. Next year probably Budapest.

10-12, but this is mostly due to my university life. My college was in different city (Novi Sad - it's where the awesome EXIT festival is each year in summer, on the fortress) than my hometown and almost each year there was a flat change and sometimes different roommates. What the happy and fun times and people!
Now I live mostly in Belgrade, but I feel like I'm somehow always in triangle Zrenjanin (hometown, mom, relatives, closest friends) - Belgrade (living) - Novi Sad (many friends and lovely city).
Obviously, everything in the same country the whole life. I adore traveling and changing places, it seems strange that I never tried living abroad..
