Question How many web hosting providers have you used?

As affiliates web hosting in an important service for our businesses. If we are not happy with the service provided or if we decide the price is not fair for the service we receive, we can act swiftly to change our service provider. From an SEO and an audience perspective we might also use different service providers. For example, it is not uncommon to host sites using an ISP who hosts sites in the country where the audience for the website is hosted.

Besides answering the poll question about how many hosting providers you have used over time, share in a post what hosts you currently use, what hosts you have abandoned, and the reasons why.

Casino City is an unusual case. When we started more than 20 years ago there were not really web hosting companies that knew how to host dynamic database-driven websites, so we leased lines from the phone company, bought some servers, and hosted our websites and those of our customers ourselves. I remember making the decision to ante up the monthly fee for a 384Kb connection when we started. Today you can get around 100Mbps, or 300 times that bandwidth for the same price. Anyway, we have been a web hosting provider for over 20 years for ourselves and our clients under the brand Accessway.net. Since we've always provided hosting services to ourselves, we're the only hosting service we have used for over 20 years.

I've used well over 20 hosts over the years. Some for seo purposes like building a network of sites, others because they seemed very reliable and I need reliable hosts for my main sites at least, and others because they were dirt cheap, and I mostly used them for my small static html sites. Reseller accounts, dedicated servers, shared hosting, VPS, I've tried everything. In the end I learned that it doesn't matter too much what host you use (as long as they're reliable), nothing will help a site if it doesn't have plenty of quality content and links.

What good timing on this poll I have been with only one host since I started to get my site off the ground. It is not the fastest service in the world and setting up through CloudFlare did almost nothing to help... The reason I have been so loyal is because the customer service is truly awesome - they deal with any question I have very quickly.

That being said, I know that our target market has zero attention span so if a website doesn't respond and load right away I can lost a potential player before they even see the site.

Since I am a rookie here... does anyone have any recommendations for WordPress hosting?

Probably around five hosts. All I can say is never go with a cheap VPS they are more trouble than they are worth.

I voted 8, but just realised that the question was "Have you used"! I thought it was "Do you use", so I will have to go away and try and remember how many I have have used now.

I used two different hosting companies. I moved to a new one because of the problems with the old one (unreliable service), I am pretty happy with a new one. Servers are located in Russia (Saint Petersburg), so for all of my European websites it works fine, and price is pretty low (40EUR/annualy) considering very good service!

I've used a few but for different projects and convenience at the time. I've only used two for gambling related sites and, so far, I've been happy with both and haven't had any major troubles.

Mind you, one of them is increasing their prices quite often these days, so you never know...

I've tried loads. Now have a good few companies I know I can rely on to be half decent. I tend to avoid the really major companies, especially the shared hosting ones as they tend to be dreadful.

4 at the moment, tend to stick to UK-based companies so fairly limited.

More than ten over the years, but I have cut most of them out and now only stick to around 5 different providers.

mine first domain(nicky.net (Creation Date: 05-jun-1998)) and webhosting i ordered, yeah , June, 5th 1998..
woooooow, that are meanwhile 18 years ago ....
since than i moved 5 times due to overload/downs etc...
for 3 years i used an dedicated server, but that is an long hacker story.
since VPS are "cheap" therefor right now i do have 3 of them (private, eggdrop(yes, for eggdrop :drunk:), gambling sites).
