I agree with you completely! My average time spent on making updates to my affiliate network site is 5 days but I want to make it everyday if only time permits.

If you really value your site, you can find a lot of things to maintain, update or add. Bottom line is always make sure that the site will always be relevant.

Completely revamped the site 3 times already in 2.5 years and getting prepared to close it am move domains completely at the moment.
Normal updates as often as possible, say 3 - 4 days per week.

Normal updates and offers about 5 days a week. Structural or major changes every couple of months.

Repetitive tasks and writing (publishing new articles) we normally outsource. But I guess that counts for updates too which is 2-3 times per week. Our writer can directly post to the site via an editor user account. We do SEO tweaks and share the ready content on social media.
Other technical stuff is done on a weekly basis - plugin and WP updates etc.

My Site is relatively new so i do updates everyday, whether it's adding a new page, a review, or a new promotion.

I have more than one site so I work every day. New promotions for bookmakers, news about transfers in football, Articles about odds for MMA or Boxing.

Every day. Sometimes I will add 5-6 slots / casino reviews and some articles in one day, other days I will just be fine tuning and improving the sites. Once in a while I will take a day to update reviews and articles, keep them fresh.

I work on the sites daily, but not always adding new content as much as I would like to, as a lot of my time is taken up removing broken links, changing tracking links ( when some of the casinos don't bother to advise us of tracking link changes ) changing promotions etc.
