Question How often do you use tools to QA your site for updates you should make?

There are a variety of tools folks can use to review their websites and find improvements that they should make. A half year ago there was a thread where folks identified a number of tools they use to find areas to improve on their website. Here is the link: Looking for good SEO analysis websites.

Periodically I use tools like those suggested in that thread to identify areas where work should be done on our sites (my personal favorites are screaming frog, Google webmaster tools, and SEOmoz, in that order). Over the last couple weeks I've put a lot of personal focus using those tools to identify issues to fix with our sites. So, while doing that, I wondered how often other webmasters use tools to examine and find issues to address on their websites.

Besides answering the poll question, share your favorite tools, and what you look for when you use such tools.

I just started using Screaming Frog. Found this SEO guide that actually gave steps on using Screaming Frog to analyze your site.

I use a few tools to make sure everything is optimised, every now and again they unearth a pearl of wisdom you would have never found otherwise.

    Tools I use are:

Yahoo yslow - for website load performance
W3C validator - for validating xhtml
Chrome developer tools & firebug - good for checking finer grained page performance
Selenium - for automated cross browser testing

Great question Michael. I have never reviewed our site to be honest, but its something which is on my list to deal with over the next couple of weeks.
I really appreciate you sharing the tools you all use and the link from Frank Benjamin - that's on my bedtime reading list now

I use market samuri a few times a month. They send an update weekly for rank changer. I see most people favor seo moz and screaming frog which i have never used. Has anyone used market samuri?

I never heard of Screaming Frog until you mentioned about it. I'm going to check it out, looks like it collects lots of great SEO data.
I agree that the W3C validators (both html and css) are great.
YSlow also, it grades your site on performance and suggests improvements.
A LONG time ago, I used to use software for optimising content for keywords, glad to say this is a thing of the past!
