Alex,
I have actually looked at Arelis briefly....not very close though.
I may take another look when I have time.
Currently, I am investigating the possiblility of putting toget an asp based version of a reciprical links software package.
Could you give me a run-down of both the good and bad points of Arelis, (or any others you have used)?
Anything you would like to see improved added upon?
Missing features?
If you feel it is more appropriate to answer this in another thread, no problem, feel free to do so. I would love to see this discussed....
I have left it in here so that non-members may also view this...unless a moderator sees fit to move it.

I can not describe the all good and bad things about ARELIS. Just download the demo version of this software an you will see the all power of it !
Is that a link exchange system? The thing we always watch out for is how Google indexes the links.

SlyCin56:>>> Yes indeed. It is a very good softwareI think so anyway

Yes SlyCyn,
It is a piece of software that allows you to manage your link list in house.
The last time I looked at it, it would even go out on the web and look for link partners, and even send an email to the default address of webmaster@domain requesting a link exchange. (where do you think a certain portion of the link exchange requests are coming from)
It even goes on to create and manage the pages (to a degree) and also does the reciprical verification.
I am interested in some feedback on these type of programs as I am considering building that type of application, both for my own use, that of some clients and possibly to repackage for resale.
I know many webmasters use linkexchange. Are there specific points - flaws - or features you would like to see added or changed?
Link strategies are so important, I just don't know if I want to outsource that so I am looking at the possibility of other alternatives.

I tried linksmanager, i didn't like it.
I'm using Arelis now.
Get the free download and try it for yourself.
Does anyone have a link to this?
Personally, after doing links manually for the first 18 months, I *love* Links Manager - and GOOGLE loves Links Manager... *very* important! It would take an awful lot to switch me away from it.

I love Links Manager too - just for the total ease of it and the Links Partner service. Cindy do we have the GPWA link for it so people can check out the free trial?
Anyone who signs up with linksmanager through the GPWA link will get one month free and the GPWA will get one month free for the referral. So if anyone is interested in trying linksmanager, please sign up from the GPWA link to help keep our costs down.
And don't forget about the free month for each referral. It is my understanding that you can accumulate referrals. In other words, if you send them 12 new customers in the first month, you will get 1 year free service. So after signing up, make sure your lm referral link is on your link pages and in all your link emails. You can set this up in your control panel.
Right, it helps pay for Links Manager for GPWA.(only admitted members to the private forums are allowed to add their links
)
Prior to getting us signed up for Links Manager, I used to spend 4-6 hours a month maintaining links for our member sites - now I just go into the account a couple of times a week, and voila! my work is done in 5 minutes.
I just got confirmation from the owner that anyone that signs up gets a 1 month free trial of Links Manager before they start getting charged, which is $19.95/month after that. Thank you, Mr. Owner!!![]()
I also got this info about the different Links systems -
And just a few tips from GPWA general knowledge -Arelis actually visits pages on the web based on keywords searches and
solicits a link from the webmaster on your behalf. There are of course huge
spam/security issues when you get into software that cruises the
web looking for links ..... Arelis and Zeus have basic link management built
into their software but their link management features are basic and do not
offer the robust patent pending features that LinksManager offers.
LinksManager is different in that it manages links first and foremost ..
that was the original focus, and it continues to make it easier for webmasters to manage links and easy for LinksManager users to swap
links with other sites. Of course, there are so many ways to locate
potential link partners.
A number of customers carefully use Zeus or Arelis to locate
potential link partners. These users have modified the request link mailer
that Zeus or Arelis sends out so potential link partners are directed to
their LinksManager powered add link page and then LinksManager takes over
with the management and publishing of the link . As long as none of the
softwares are abused and link swap requests are short and without sales/spam
messages, this is an acceptable marriage of all of the available
softwares.
1. Be *very* careful of using these other links systems because Google will penalize you for using the wrong one.
2. When building your links pages, it is imperative that your links be closely related to your portal's subject matter - i.e., gambling portals should only have gambling related links, or limit "other" links to less than 2-5% of the total links on their site. I declined some link exchanges yesterday because when I went to the gambling site, they had about 50% non-related links in their links. :nono:
For instance, on Video Poker Junkie, I've limited the number of sportsbetting sites in my links pages because that's not what VPJ is about. Gambling Girl, on the other hand, is allowed to list other subjects because her focus is women oriented which covers a much wider range of areas I'll eventually take her into. But even there, I've limited the nubmer of sportsbooks.
The bottom line is LinkXing is not just a "run around the net and get as many as you can" project. It's a focused, managed "value-added" feature for your visitors that can make or break your site in the Search Engines.
Oh, one more thing - Established Portal owners HATE being spammed or getting form letters for LinkX's, and we'll delete them nearly everytime! We pay for services like Links Manager so that our other priorities can get handled properly - when newbie webmasters don't respect that, we get unhappy. :nono:

One thing I hate seeing. Somebody writing to me asking me to submit at their site. If they took the time to look for my email addy and write the email, it would have been much easier just to submit their link. After all, they are the one asking for the link. When I initiate a link exchange, I ALWAYS add their link first and then ask for reciprocation.
