Which industry conferences ?

The busiest and best one there is in my opinion is the London Affiliate Conference but I have heard loads about the Barcelona one, even though I've never attended. I remember around Sept time they used to hold conferences in Budapest and I attended those but didn't manage to get to the Barcelona one. Oh well this time I will be there.

As many forum members already mentioned you can do everything online and you don't HAVE to attend a conference. BUT, from an operator perspective it is nice to meet and treat affiliates you've worked with online during the year, besides meeting many new affiliates.

Just my 2 cents worth - hoping it's valuable as I tend to do plenty of gaming conferences around the world...

1) LAC is by far and away the biggest affiliate event. So much so that Amsterdam and Barcelona feel small in comparison. If your agenda is simply to meet your account managers and discuss terms, they are likely to have less time on their hands for a really nitty-gritty conversation. If you want quality time, seek them out in Amsterdam and Barcelona - most programs will do the lot (although beware - some don't - I recall Paddy Power didn't have a stand in Barcelona last year, for example).

2) On the other hand, if you are looking to network with affiliates (particularly those focusing on sports and bingo, in particular) LAC is the place to be. I would estimate that there are 3 to 4 times the number there than the other 2 iGB events.

3) There is a lot to be said for smaller conferences (non-iGB Affiliate that is). I attended the Malta iGaming Seminar last year - I'd say around 250 delegates in total. From a learning perspective, the content was non-affiliate specific, but I find it's important to diversify one's knowledge of the industry beyond affiliate marketing, particularly if you have a heavy content focus.

4) There is also a lot to be said for the large, non-affiliate events, such as G2E (my favourite), iGaming North America and ICE, in particular. Whilst the content tends to be, again, non-affiliate specific, there tends to be a core crowd of affiliates attending each of them and it allows you so much time to get to know them - for me, absolutely critical to what I do as a master affiliate. Plus, it's Vegas with the first two, which, if you're a casino affiliate dealing in slot specific content, is the ultimate research (free play on the latest machines!). From a marketing perspective, I am fascinated by casino design too.

For me, its London then Amsterdam. I went to Barcelona last year and it was OK but not worth me going back this year.

London Is a must its the Biggest and busiest by far .. Amsterdam is Always Fun for Both Affiliates and Affiliate Managers smaller so gives your more one on one time with Programs and Hell Looking forward to Berlin Barcelona was Great but Berlin should be a new experience for all Involved and an Exciting one too

John, I know you probably just want to get your 5 posts but did you try to read a thread in this board? You would probably notice the signatures and topics about the Berlin Affiliate Conference. Barcelona doesn't exist anymore.
But you are right about Barcelona, the city is great! I'm moving there!

I read very carefully I mean a conference in Barcelona last year which was really very successful mainly because of the charm of this city. Of course I know that this year we will meet in Berlin but hopes that next year we will again be able to go to the Barcelona Affiliate Conference - I love this town
