You can't even come close to being a leading program until you are lifetime revenue share across all products. Until then Betfair will remain very unattractive.

Fair comment, something we are looking in to. However, I know for a fact that the lifetime we give you on exchange of 3 years is longer than that of any other bookmakers fixed odds product life time. I realise that the exchange product lifetime will be longer due a few factors, but that fact still remains. Do you know how long your customers stay with an operator for fixed odds products? Furthermore, we have a successful fixed odds product that offers lifetime just like other operators, with the added benefit of having the exchange plus all the other products like casino.

    Thanks

i've had a sportingbet, betvictor and boylesports account for well over 7 years and I still use them now

Dont forget punters will in the end run out of new places to bet, so they will still bet somewhere, often where the best odds are, no matter how long they've had the account.

For example I opened a Stan James telephone account 8-9 years ago maybe more, placed one bet that lost and didn't bother again, only last season did I use the account again due to good accumulator odds

That is nonsense. I have referred players from up to 10 years ago still playing and paying.

You need to be lifetime with no shaving tiers to be taken seriously. There will always be some affiliates who don't realise how bad a deal is, but you cant realistically rely on ignorance to get a proper level of promotion.

Betfair has always hated the concept of affiliate marketing and that is why you are promoted so lightly, compared to say Bet365 who embrace it and have their banners plastered all over the internet. You have a chance to stop the rot but your comment suggests it will be more of the same short-changing.

Not at all nonsense. We are talking about an average across all online channels, not just a few players on an account. I have some good & robust insights from my previous tenure and now in my current role to be able to say these things.

I hear what you're saying about the lifetime aspect and it's something we are seriously looking in to. I've been brought in to help grow the programme and if this is a serious barrier (which I already suspected it to be) to just that, then it's something I will need to look to change.

PM'd you my number as I want to discuss the last comment in more detail.

    Thanks

    Jon

Now, you really are failing to see this is in the eye of an affiliate. Averages are fine, but what happens if the affiliate lands a whale that spends a fortune (this isn't an average but DOES happen time to time), with Betfair we run the risk of this happening and having the player taken off us, I'd much prefer to limit the chance of this happening and seen players where I know I'll be appreciated for bringing in the player and not stepped on

Hopefully most of our affiliates are fortunate enough to have two eyes. Joking aside, I completely understand where you're coming from and as I've said previously, we're looking in to it.

I spoke to Jon and there is no doubt whatsoever that he is committed to improving the Betfair affiliate program and making it competitive. Refreshing to speak to someone so keen to hear and understand critical opinion.

As for Ladbrokes, unfortunately it seems to me he made the right move because from what I have read the affiliate marketing may be migrating to the poor affiliate software that William Hill use (and are quite rightly looking to get away from), which would be a major backward step. I have already seen one disastrous migration to that, where affiliates alleged they lost players. Anyone in Israel working for Ladbrokes reading this - please stick with income access (coz it works).

If Ladbrokes move to that piece of **** software they'll find themselves getting nowhere near the current sign ups I usually send them

What is it with the Israeli affiliate teams wanting to use THE WORST affiliate software there is

thankfully William Hill are moving back to Netrefer, well supposed to be anyway, dragging their heels about it

Totally agree. Just cant push a firm hard that uses that software. Let's hope it doesn't happen as I am running out of top firms to give the best shelf space to.

going to have a word with Kerrie first thing in the morning. I send them around 100 players at the moment a month and can safely say I will not be risking that traffic if they use that **** software

I'll be genuinely gutted if Ladbrokes make a pigs ear of this now as I've pushed them hard over the last year and really enjoyed working with them. God knows what goes through the top bosses brains sometimes

Ladbrokes are linking up with Playtech for the marketing just like William Hill did. I think Ladbrokes look at William Hill's better overall performance and have simply copied what William Hill did, but ironically it was a deal that William Hill couldn't wait to get out of and gave them plenty of headaches. I hope Kerrie is still there because from what I have read the Ladbrokes marketing is moving to Israel.

she is at the minute, she told me everything else apart from sports had already been sent out to Israel but sports wasn't (for now anyway). she's working on her own at the moment, or was last time I spoke to her
