Senate Study Bill 1068 would authorize Iowa casinos to establish online poker games, allow people to create an account and to deposit money for online wagering. The measure now heads to the Iowa Senate State Government Committee, which is expected to endorse the bill next week for consideration by the Democratic-controlled Senate.

However, the bill’s prospects appear dim in the Republican-led Iowa House, which allowed an identical proposal to die last session.
