Default Its Funny how the brain works.

Its funny how the brain works...

I just entered in a phone number from a house I used to live in... 10 YEARS AGO.. as my banking username.

Both have 8 digits, and are nothing alike. Not sure why I entered in my old phone number.

You know how you just reflexively type in your username or password without even really thinking.. well when I typed in my old phone number, I did a double take... I had totally forgotten that number. And yet.. somehow.. my brain.. brought it back.

My mum.. last year.. caught a taxi.. and told the taxi driver the address of a house she lived in 12 years ago, she only realized when the cabbie was going the wrong way.

I was just talking to a friend about that the other day. Unlike your experience Rak, mine wasn't that funny.

Growing up and living in Singapore, I've just been so used to left-hand traffic. And even though I've left Singapore about 10 years ago and have been living in countries with right-hand traffic, my brain just doesn't want to follow. I have no idea how many times i almost got killed. Thank god i don't drive. I'd have died a long time ago if i had. But still I've told myself a million times to look the other way while crossing the street and just when i'm about to cross the street i'd forget and look the other way only to get honked at with this wtf are you doing look and inches away from getting hit. It's just bloody scary.

I've been practicing to look both ways but at times yea it's just crazy how the brain works.

Singapore is lovely! I lived there for a year... and I really enjoyed it. Especially the food. Was there about a month ago for a night only, and had a great time. Do you remember which area you stayed at?

Its really changed a lot... always building, and rent is now pretty expensive.. but the food is still cheap, and still fantastic!

I am worse than your mum Rak, I once left a pub, walked 15 minutes across town and tried to open the door of a house I hadn't lived in for 2 years.
I did have a lot on my mind and I was drunk.
My limit is normally two pints now, once I've had 3 I can't say no to another...

I'm much happier and more productive since I cut down on the drinking

I can't say I've driven on the wrong side of the road but I've driven into the driveways of houses I don't live in anymore. Very embarrasing when the owner comes out and sees you going out of the driveway.

Ahh the food mhmmmmmm makes me drool whenever i think about it. I miss the food there sooooo much. And truly cheap indeed.

I was there for a short visit about 5 years ago. It's astounding how much the city has changed. I can't imagine how it is today. Like you said, it's always building and if not that, there's always reconstructions going on it's never going to stop. The rent has always been ridiculously high. I remembered being mostly broke when i was a student with most of my income spent on rent :S The last flat i had during my last year there would be the best one i've ever had. Although the rent was mental, i liked it a lot as it was very close to school and my part-time bar job. It was about 5 minutes away from Clarke Quay (where i worked) and being on the 29th floor, i had such an amazing view of the city. And with my family, we've stayed in quite a few different areas. My dad was a real estate agent and we basically moved every two or three years. The best area in my opinion would be on the East Side. It's lovely to live close to East Coast Park. Somehow, it always kinda felt like holiday there.

I'm glad you had a great time and enjoyed living in Singapore. What were you doing there though? A year's quite a long time. Especially in such a tiny city.

Aside from missing the food, i really miss how CLEAN the city is. All the cities i've been to the past years are not even close to what i'm used to. I'm usually quite flexible and versatile and can adapt to any type of situation and love the adventure of living in different cities. But sometimes yea, ohh how i miss the cleanliness of Singapore at times..

haha wow, they they call the cops on you??

Whats happens to me all the time is that I dial my ex girlfriend's number by mistake when I really want to dial another number. Its when I have my mind in blank that it happens, I always press cancel before there is a tone though!

I was lucky, there was no-one in - I must have spent a good couple of minutes trying to get in, because the key went in the lock but wouldn't turn...

    That's drinking for you...

Does this by any chance happen at 4am when you're blind drunk?
