The Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission (BGLC) says it is currently exploring options for regulating Internet gambling in Jamaica.

In a release, the BGLC said that, amid growing popularity in online and mobile gambling worldwide, it is conducting a thorough examination and analysis of the regulatory regimes in other jurisdictions and expects to formulate a position for review by the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service in the upcoming financial year.

"One of the fastest-growing offshoots of Internet gambling globally is fantasy/virtual sports betting. It is especially popular in the United States, India and China, with recorded annual sales in the high billions," the BGLC said
