I took a break from developing to read about Optimization of a site for search engines (a PhD would be confused by some of it), but any way. . .
From what I gather, it seems the robots like HTML over Java for several reasons:
1. No dynamic content so there is more that the robot can log and catagorise, and
2. Menu navigation via java or FrontPage Nav Bars will not allow the robot to find other pages. Only text links can be searched by the robots.
Finally I gathered from the readings that it is important that the secondary and 3rd level pages also have the right keywords to help boost your PR.
So, my question: Many of the sites I have seen, and liked, are done in ASP, PHP and/or Java. How do they receive such high page ratings if the robots can't search the secondary and third levels for additional content. Is there another way of promoting a page that I am missing?
Also, I have seen some single page sites (banner farms) or redirect pages that are ranked very high (top 20) google. How do they optimise themselves and rank so high with only 1 page of content?
Thanks for the help. . . :shake:
