Just to clairfy - I don't have access to anything - Joined after the iGanming social last week as someone told me that night that a forum had been launched but quickly realised it was just a private one for the ops as I couldn't actually see anything.
Try it now, there are some communal forums open.
I am reserving judgement until after Amsterdam. I am very much looking forward to hearing what GAP is going to try to achieve. However I will need a lot of convincing that it can work.
Incidentally I have just signed up to the forum there and cannot see any forums. I guess Lloyd needs to activate my account.
Well it looks like Lloyd is opening his own forum this is nothing to do what so ever with the 65 operators.........

I understand the question but aren't we seeking to shut the barn door after the horses are loose?
It really doesn't matter what we like or don't like .. whether we're comfortable with this or not.
It is happening ...... deal with it.
Perhaps the better question might have been "what are we as affs willing to do or sacrifice to keep the status quo ... IF this new union is ever used in a malicious manner?
What are you willing to do? If all of them decide to break long standing contracts but give you a choice to take half what you're making now and not make a fuss or be faced with blacklisting what would amount to just about every recognized name in the industry which isn't exactly going to make your site look too credible ... especially if you don't have a large majority of the aff community joining in with you.
So if some accept the deal ... especially the bigger sites ... then by taking the high ground you would achieve
- making your site appear not credible since it would be blacklisting all the known names
- instead of settling for half ... you'd now have nothing for income (assuming they chose to not pay anything since you wouldn't settle for half and I think that would be a likely scenario if it came to this)
All the more pressure to accept the bad deal.

Not talking about it doesn't mean it isn't a possibility and I think its foolish to not face the hard truths.
One hard truth is that this has come about so worrying about whether we like it or not is not all that productive. Lets talk about what we're prepared to do if this does go south?
And most of all lets work on patching back some tears in the aff fabric ... because THAT is something we can do that IS productive.

Well in my opinion it already has gone pear shaped, they are already turning on themselves, they have already made a joke of the word transparancy, they have included in their list programs that simply should not be there.
I am starting to think that it may be best to just leave them to it and when the inevitable crash happens as i beelieve it will or when their true colours shine thru which ever happens sooner we can then get back to the status quo
Beacuse even with all its faults it is better than what GAP is preaching thats for sure.

and to be fair ... I never said we should take it ... but rather was saying what if?
It will take a unified effort of sizes never before gathered unto one purpose (in this industry) to turn a tide of a unified 65 of the biggest programs
but I doubt that is a worry ... I just wanted to point out that its more productive to be thinking of counter-measures than to be saying I don't like this ...
it is as you said a done deal. And all due respect I imagine we will have to deal with it but only if it becomes malicious and I think AmCam was right that its just an effort to avoid getting reamed.
another point made I believe by Sean (whom asked me for an invite to our gap and I made it and I'm not sure he's ever shown up after having made such a fuss :eyebrow:) ... was that the programs are still going to compete to get your partnership so I don't forsee them getting along well enough to coordinate something as complicated as breaking of contracts would involve.
and I hope I'm right. :)

personally, if it sudden is not worth my while I'll treat it as "extra income" and move on to something more profitable.
For me, i have formed an opinion on this subject just from reading this thread and for who has posted and who has not posted.
Why would i want people making decisions for me, and how my career turns out, when they will not even come take part in this discussion here? It will only get worse once this "union" comes together and starts pushing their ideas and new rules on us affiliates.
I don't think any of us affiliates need this, Affiliate managers may need a group for themselves, to keep their interest safe, such as advertising costs, etc. But us affiliates? we have been doing our own business for years, why would we want someone "managing" us now? i would not, so i will have some hard thinking to do in the future if this "union" comes to light and what decisions they make for affiiates is not approved by myself, for me. I will just have to start promoting companies that are not involved in this. I dont really understand why this is starting up, it can't be because of "CAP" and its mess, because if that was the case, these programs are already at respected places like, GPWA, AGD, GIA, GAP[ bb1's place, the ORIGINAL GAP] and others, so why is this starting anyway??
