Which keywords are better to rank for?

Hi I would like to know which keywords are better to rank for? Narrow keywords that produce a small amount of traffic but offer a very high conversion rate(sometimes between 20 to 35% conversion rate) or kewyords such as online casino, best online casino, internet casino and online casino review that produce large amounts of traffic and are searched for very frequently! Which of these two sets of keywords should portal webmasters prefer and try their best to rank high in search engines for?

I would concentrate on many many keyword terms which are easy to rank for which produce one or two click thrus a month. As your site or sites build, you can then concentrate on trying to compete for the much harder terms such as online casinos.

You want to target less competitive keywords to bring in the business as the hard ones will be hard for you to even be ranked at all and hard for anyone to find you. Still target "online casinos" etc as if your in it for the long run like me you will definately want to place high in these in the furure don't ignore them altogether. Find niche keywords people are not targetting and work hard!

Jagan You are strong. I tried with "online casinos" but it is very too difficult.

It is not possible. I think that the first website have one budget for the seo > 1 200 $ to month.......attention to be first you must not spend 1200 $ for one month but for many motnhs.

I am increasingly a fan of targeting the "long tail" in the search engines. I have a handful of "second tier" keyword phrases - mostly two words - I push and drives some traffic. The long tail is longer search terms - 4 words and up... things you could rank very well for, but get almost no traffic. Yet, a hit or two per month per term times hundreds or thousands of these terms builds a lot of value. Especially in google, most of my traffic comes from keywords I am aiming for in my content, but not specifically targeting.

Me to, I am ranked in google for keywords that I am not targetting but have been found in my content. After ranking well for these keywords I have then made them more my focus

IMO it depends on the size of the site you are working with, and what you are planning for the future.

If you are going to keep the size of the site limited, you will need the bigger keywords.

If you are planning to build a mega site, by all means use the smaller ones.

As usual, the path to take depends on your personal plans.
