Latest PR update - anyone actually gained?

One of my sites went from pr 3 to 4. At one time it was a pr 6.

WTG Captain PR is climbing! A lot of people like buying into the PR concept giving you maybe some extra cash.

It has been proven beyond any shadow of a doubt that for years now the visible PageRank has had no correlation at all with ranking. Yet, we still see threads like this all the time where webmasters seem obsessed with PR. Like greek pointed out some folks are still willing to pay for PageRank placement...

I just don't get it.
Why do people continue to ignore the facts and keep focusing on that meaningless PR number?

Whilst i appreciate what you are saying and understand your points, i often wonder why it is still an offering from google?

If it means nothing then why is it still available to see?

Perhaps it is something no longer used but left available in case they decide to revisit it?

IMO all Google wants is good content rich relevant sites. Page Rank was proving to be nothing more than a tool worth exploiting. Webmasters began focusing less on building a good site and more on Page Rank.

The thread has grown to 3 pages now and will likely continue a slow growth for a bit.

Geez....how many times has the "G" word been used in this thread alone....

Will they drop it eventually....probably....but for the time they like the "buzz" surrounding any movements made by them.

Here's some info I received in an email.

I don't place much thought on PR anymore because I had a PR2 within months of one of my site launch and within months I was back to a PR0. But, I have been #2, 3 4 since I have been indexed this whole time for my key words. To me, as long as I am on the front page with good key words, I am good to go and screw PR!

Our pr5 site has 3-4 pr4 links going to it and most other links are pr0-pr2.I definitely think our 3000+ pages of content is why it made pr5.Hey greek you want to sell that pr6?lol.Sorry all I am in PR rehab just slipped a bit hehehe.

Good one wonder what I should charge for a almost invisible link on the main page? Some would pay enough for me to host my own PR block party and your all invited lol. This would be during the winter months. Us Canadians know this could mean certain death from the cold.

Strangely enough another site one page no content jumped from a PR1 to PR2. Okay some content "coming soon" and the "navigation".

I gave up on link exchanges a very long time ago.

You would think that after trading links with every crappy site they can and not seeing their ranking increase... they would stop... but nooooo... They just KNOW that just one more crappy 3 way link exchange and they they will get that #115 spot for their keyword...

Quality content is still king which I considered having added a lot off stuff to my sites recently but have not seen a page rank, however on 2 of my non casino related sites I saw positive rankings 1 point on both but rankings are still the same.

i got 8 google page links lost inner PR in some pages and home page stays the same...

cant understand this and the page links are not the ones i would expect but its a change....

Home page stayed the same but sub-pages picked up. Been focusing on the sub-pages, so that makes sense.
