The Lotteries and Gambling Supervisory Inspection of Latvia released new figures this week that showed state-licensed gambling operators experience an increase in revenue of 73.6 million in Q1 2019, a 15.9% improvement over the same period last year. The number, however, was well below the 81.5 million the market reported in Q4 2018.
Latvias nine licensed online gambling operators generated a combined 12.4 million in Q1, up 35.4% year-on-year. Last year, the online sector generated 41.1 million, so the 2019 Q1 figure puts it on track to surpass 2018. Revenues for online casino games increased nearly 40% to 8.8 million, while sports betting was up 27.1% to nearly 3.5 million and poker rose 15.8% to 73,000.
On the land-based side, electronic gaming machines dominated, with revenue up 12.6% to 56.3 million. Sports betting revenue jumped 55.2% and bingo revenue improved by nearly 45%.
