Deep linking is quite good in terms of directories but targeting the exact domain gives a strong reputation on your site.

By the way, are you offering a deep linking trade?

Why is it that every link trader who joins this forum has to spam every link exchange thread in existence with the same post? In this case it's five posts within an hour all saying the same thing.

Don't ya think that if you post once, in one thread, everyone who's interested will see it?

    I agree Terry....

I don't think they understand that this is NOT the way to get exchanges....

Just so all public members know, we do NOT allow the private link exchange thread to run this way....

In it, webmaster a posts a thread requesting exchanges....

All posts after that first request are related to the exchange posted by webmaster a only, and soliciting others from webmaster b\, webmastr c etc will NOT take place.

If webmaster b or webmaster c want to post their own thread, no problem do so....

No stepping on other people's threads....

And the method of constantly trying to turn every single discussion into one where you can post looking for exchanges doesn't happen.

Trust me folks....I have been accelerating the editing that I have been performing on these blatant out of line exchange requests, and if it accelerates more the delete button is also available to me.

Well, if you are looking for advice, depending on what advice you are looking for, create a post specifically asking for help in that area.

If you want seo advice, then start a thread in this forum....and tell us what aspects you need help with.

If you want a few of us to give some opinions about a specific site, we usually put the reviews in Freshman Forum I believe.

If you need advice about link exchanages, well you can start a thread in this forum, but lately asking for advice or guidance on anything that has the word link in it means the thread is immediately burried in link echange requests and the original thoughts and questions get overlooked because the thread is no longer very worthwhile to those wanting a bit of help.

As far as actually GETTING link exhcnages, I'm sure there are plenty of public and new members here that will exchange with anyone....

(Please note, what I am about to say is NOT directed at anyone specifically, or is it meant to degrade or devalue anyones new member status here)

As far as gaining the respect of more long time and private members, the best way to do that is try to involved yourself in more of the discussions, ask more questions, tell us more about yourself and just generally try and get to know us all a bit.

As an example, I have personally exchanged links with a number of new members here, but the majority of those that I have had at least attempted to become active here in discussion OTHER THAN link exchanges.

And when a private member, or an ACTIVE public memberis looking for exchanges, I usually don't think twice about it, I take a look at the site and see what kind of exhanges are being offered and if I feel that it fits within the theme of my pages and feel we could both benfit I will usually do an exchange.

And there have even been times when I have thrown up an extra link or 2 here or there just to make the other webmaster happy with the exchange.

justin, it's pretty clear that a few of us are a little less than happy with how some of the exchange threads have turned out....and trust me we will come up with a long term solution to helping in that reguard....but if you are looking for exchange partners....there are probably a dozen in this thread alone.

I wish you would quit sending me multiple e-mails and pm. I would not exchange links with you now if you were the last damn site on the Internet.

    Hi
i couldn't agree with you more but I think (especially since i am new to this seo buisness) that not every webmaster really understands the important of making a "quality" (or so to say) link exchange, and sometimes thinks that the fast way is better for him. i think it is because lack of knowledge.
one of the main thing i have learned in gpwa that its not all about the quantity but rather the quality. and most important is to learn and read as much as you can about seo, and that goes for any subject when one wants to achieve his goals. beacause we are living in a dinamic-web-era everything changes rapidly and we,as webmasters, are obligated (for my opinion) to be at the top of things,so it is much as important as of exchanging links.

It is beyond that now Diana, as almost every single linke exchange thread here in the public forums is a mess.

We do not allow the threads to get so derailed in the private section.

There are dozens and dozens of public members who have joined the gpwa in the last few months for the primary focus of gaining link exchanges only and have no desire or understanding of what the forum is all about.

In the future we do plan on remedying that situation.

I encourage al public members to become more involved in the forums and threads here at the GPWA "other than" the link exchange threads.

You are 100% right. as for me I admit that im not too involve so far as for writing but i read all the time. unfortunatly english is not my native language, so i prefer to read more than write- and sure link exchange is important to me but its not all about this

Diana, my post above was certainly NOT meant to single you out....

And, you have been trying to become in involved in discussions and that in itself shows us that you have a genuine desire to become a member of our community. And that is all we ask here really.

And don't worry about English not being your primary language as there are many many members here in the same situation.

There is truly a wealth of information and support here, and for those that come here on a daily basis and could care less about anything but how many links they will get, will eventually discover that the links they do manage to get will not be as high quality or in as high of numbers as what they could get over time if they were willing to just become involved.

I agree that link exchanging THREADS should be controlled not to end up SPAMS , but also we must have in mind that GPWA it is a community and as a community we need to help each other and one way to do that it is by exchanging links between us , of course with out pushing people or with out spamming in PMs or emails!

Yes....but let me tell you one thing,

We have a VERY extensive link exchange only forum in the private forums and we NEVER have the problems associated that happen here in the public forums.

Because private members RESPECT each other in that forum.

And when webmaster A starts a thread looking for exchanges for their site or sites, they don't have to worry about 20 posts immediately following their original post that have nothing to do with webmaster A.

What happens here is, webmaster X posts a thread requesting exchanges, and then within a few hours 10 or 15 or more webmasters "hijack" the thread all with their own requests and webmast X post is completly burried and they no longer have a way to control the respopnses and or questions that may arise from the original post.

So for you to say we need to provide a way for public members to exchange....we DO do just that....

....but I will caution everyone that the method in which this takes place will change soon

The GPWA has been around a very long time....and in many cases the reason it has stood the test oif time is because we always try to make sure that threads stay on track as much as possible, and we take many steps to avoid threads from being hijacked and sidetracked.

Sure there is at times the occassional thread that will derail slightly, or will have it's share of fun diversions added here and there, but overall just about any subject can be discussed here and stay relativly on track.

This helps questions be answered, issues discussed and a thorough understanding of subjects is conveyed to a wide audience that otherwise may not even know about the subject.

The only subject that the threads are derailed and hijacked time and time again is link exchanges.

This is being discussed internally, and a solution will be forthcoming soon.
