Looking for Google Penguin/Panda recovery speciialists

hi all

We have a few sites which over time have been hit by the Google penguin updates. We have been working on other areas and its now time to see if we can get these recovered.

Is anyone on GPWA known for Penguin recovery success?
Can you recommend anyone either on GPWA or a third party, from elance or an seo company etc.

We can pay for all the work to be done, if the overall budget is good value, or we can have someone point out exactly what needs to be done so we can get the nitty gritty done either ourselves or by a third party at a more cost effective rate.

We have a few sites that previously ranked well, so success in one or two and we can provide more work.

I say Penguin, but in a couple of instances we have, or may have been hit by Panda.

What are your own experiences with recovery after you actively took action to recover?

Yes, we have a budget, however, we keep that figure to ourselves as people tend to want to use the whole budget. If we get quoted a good price for getting the job done then great.

@ OP - just disavow all of your inbound spam links, clean the outbound spam links from your own site. Tell google about it and wait.
Don't pay anyone for this.. you can do it yourself in like 30 mins.

p.s doing this should remove any penalty reasonably quickly, but of course if your site was getting its rankings from spam which you "are discarding" via disavow, you will of course need to replace those links with quality links in order to regain / exceed your former rankings

Excellent advice. This is exactly what I'd be doing at first.

@gamblingseo google encourages links be cleaned first, disavow tool should be last resort. At least some effort should be made.

When a site has 5000 links in GWT, lets say 250-400 from individual sites, be they articles, link pages, etc this would take a lot longer than 30 mins.

Do not waste your time unless your site is oh so special. I know a few ways out that are so cool I would literally have to charge you cash up front to tell you lol. Just kidding... One way is to start over and dilute. Make a copy of your website on a different domain and hosting. Fresh sites are going to out preform a penalty site and this has been proven by seo's from all over.

Thanks muffin. Yes, you might be right, it might be better to start over. I'm going to have a go via the cleaning back links routes first though.

Tbh even if you get rid of every link, it's still a bit of a crapshoot as to whether (or when) the site will recover. I have one that's down to zero links in GWT and is still obliterated for its name, going on a year now at least. Cutts has also said a few times that some sites simply wont recover.

Give it a go if you like, but the most success I've seen is by deindexing the site and then launching it again on another domain (I'd wait a few weeks for the site to get deindexed first).

If you get direct traffic which you want redirected but don't want to redirect the old site (for obvious reasons) there are ways to do it - for example a meta refresh whilst also blocking google from the page/site. Or a simple message with a link to the new page, again blocking google from it (I prefer the latter as it explains to the users that your site has changed).

OK, so taking this to a scenario on one of my sites I'd like some advice on this one:

One of my sites lost around 75% of its search visibility overnight, in particular for more 'generic' terms, the site is an EMD and it even lost it's EMD search term.

However, the remaining 25% still visible are very good keywords that still make me good money.

What would you do? I've been trying to see if I got Panda'd or Penguin'd or any other animals, so far I've done a link audit and got rid of some bad links. Now doing a content and layout audit in case it's Panda.

Any suggestions? Am just thinking keep chipping away at it but in the meantime launch a bunch of new sites, maybe try and get some powerful new links to the site?

That is algorithm. If you are fast enough and chance the anchor and site profile of the links to that pages keyword you have a chance of it returning. Was it #1 for awhile? Prob huh? Seems nothing stays on top for longer than a few months or one year. Makes the SERPS more diversified and makes previous top rankers use Adwords. In this case, make a new site to target your lost emd directly I guess.

From position 2-5 for about 6 months-ish (most recently position 2), to SERP 70+ overnight. Not only the EMD keyword but any keyword you could think of as being 'related' to that keyword.

The page that now comes up for the EMD keyword isn't even the home page now, it's an inner page in my site - as if the home page has been hit by the algorithm. Never had this before so I'm guessing maybe the home page is over-optimised = could be Panda I guess.
