Low search volume, but still going ahead, tips?

Hey guys

I plan on becoming the authority in my niche, which is global and covers all types of gambling.

There isnt that much search volume for the keywords that my site mainly stands for.

Once people see my site, i believe they will keep coming back. It's a resource that i myself kept looking for, am passionate about and understand all the nuances.

Any tips for success? I am planning on doing paid advertising also to help out.

The reason why i went ahead even though theres low search volume is that if my site is successful, i will have become the authority in my niche. I dont want to give away too much details yet because we are launching in about a fortnight.

As this is an SEO thread i'll throw in my SEO advice.

Give it at least 3 months as minimum to see where Google ranks your site before you consider an SEO strategy... there are hundreds of fast indexing, fast ranking services that promise the world. If you plan to be the authority, then I'm sure you're OK with playing the long game and being patient with your SEO.

You will need backlinks, you will need social exposure, you will need traffic signals, you will need onsite signals, you will need user signals. But be patient and consider how your site ranks without SEO first and then decide on an appropriate strategy for SEO.

I've hired somone with many years gambling affiliate SEO experience, from the ground up doing things right (internal linking structure etc).

Yeah im planning to do this long game. I'll wait a bit before i do paid advertising. I'm not paying anyone for quick dirty SEO services, my seo person will be managing backlinks etc

Of course you need to be carefull while doing so and know the territory. Copying the linking strategy of LCB for example will be a waste of time, since its not the reason for their success.

Question: Are you querying my response or mirroring it - I don't follow your quote?

I didn't mention copying a competitors strategy - I suggested auditing their success (Nothing else). You devise your own strategy, but understanding the landscape from existing sites, is a sure way of analysing the potential within a search query.

Seeing that Akelu is relatively new here I meant to stress that he needs to make a deep analyzes and not jump to conclusions after checking some random parameter (something that happened to me many times in the past).

Google is great and the best source of traffic, but also remember to build a decent social media presence. That is very important.

Does anyone write SEO for any other search engine than Google? Most traffic surely goes and comes there, but surely it's possible to build a niche on Bing for example? Or are the keywords etc similar anyways?

If you think that every search engine is using the brightest minds on the planet to refine their algorithm and present the best results then whatever you write or make just needs to be worthy of being seen.

In theory if you ranked top on Google then you'd rank top everywhere else.

i did 60,000 words planning + 6months seo research before i even began on the site. I have 26 wordpress plugins and my site loads in 266ms according to pingdom (have a plugin that lets me select which page/device to load which plugin its amazing)
