Default Market Size - New Sportsbook Accounts

I vaguely remember at one of the London Affiliate Conferences 2 or 3 years back one of the speakers mentioned that there were around 25,000 new depositing sportsbook accounts created each month. Can't recall if that was UK/Europe/Global - probably UK as it feels a bit small otherwise. Bit of a sweeping statement too of course as big events, i.e. World Cup, Grand National etc will create spikes in the numbers.

Out of interest has anyone seen any recent/more definitive numbers, monthly phasing over the big events etc?

I can only go buy my account numbers.. My most competitive book i see a difference in 100 daily.. eg account pl10100 then day two it might be pl10204, others I see some times 30 sign ups daily.. though some affiliate's claim to send 1000s monthly..

Interesting thought thanks, I expect some will increment by more than 1 or some other formula to throw anyone looking slightly off the scent but I'm sure that wouldn't take a great deal of unravelling. One for a quiet evening

Confused by the question, sorry for being simple, are we guessing at the size of the new player market monthly ?

Yeah, exactly that. As I say, sure it was quoted at 25,000 per month 2/3 years ago but I've not seen anything more concrete or recent.

Based on the current Acquisition heavy focus from most of the books, I would say that the top tiers are doing that number monthly. (that takes into account both Aff and Other traffic) - so say 7 key UK operators, 175k a month without blinking.

Say they make up 80% of the market, 218k new players a month into the UK would be the bottom of the range of my guess i would say.

Most operators would have affiliates as no more than 50% of their traffic (or should) so UK Affiliate market a month 109k, 1.3 million a year....
and taking a step further at a average CPA of 20 lets say the market is worth 26 million

    (Toilet seat thinking! )

Interesting thoughts, wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if the headline new account numbers have increased significantly with these 'massive odds' type acquisition deals of late.

Whether the incremental customers brought in (assuming both mine and your numbers are in the right ballpark of course!) are worth anything like the same in terms of long-term revenue to affiliates and operators alike is a different matter I suppose.

I think 25k in total is too low, footy accums probably about right with 200k plus.
