Default Mexico moves closer to online gaming regulation

Mexico has reportedly moved closer to introducing fully-fledged online gambling regulation after its legislature voted in favour of a gambling bill.

The country has been linked with online gambling regulation during recent months, but such a move has only started to look likely in the last few weeks following an agreement between the National Action Party (PAN) and the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD).

I sincerely hope not. I'm quite scared with regard to what this could do to online poker. Tons of US expats are living in Mexico to grind. If Mexico segregates itself from other markets, it would have a noticeable impact on our bottom line.

It depends on how strong the regulation will be. But there will always be an impact for us affiliates. First of all they will introduce a tax. In most cases this will result in a lower commission for the affiliates.

In my particular circumstance, I'm much more worried about the dozens of high volume clients we have living in Mexico who would have to leave the country and relocate yet again to play online poker on a professional level.

Interesting to see how it'll evolve
