    Default More Americans opposed to Federal gambling regulation than support it, many unsure

    Rasmussen Reports is one of the major polling firms in the United States. On December 7th and 8th they conducted a survey of 1,000 U.S. adults asking opinions about online gambling.

    They found that 34% favor Federal regulation of online gambling, compared with 40% who opposed Federal regulation and 26% who were unsure how they felt.

    Here are the questions they asked:
    1) How often do you go online and use the Internet – rarely or never, occasionally, about once a week, several times a week, every day or nearly every day, not sure?
    2) Have you ever played poker or some other game online for money? (Answered by 783 Adults who use the Internet once a week or more)
    3) Should individuals be allowed to play poker and other games for money on the Internet?
    4) Do you favor or oppose federal government regulation of online gambling?
    5) Do you favor or oppose online gambling sites run by state lotteries?
    Statistical notes: +/- 3 percentage points margin of sampling error at a 95% level of confidence.
