Red face Movie Top Lists and Recommendations

    Hi all

Since there's a topic about favourite and good Tv shows and series, I thought it would be unfair not to have a place with favourite movies we can recommend to each other.
Sometimes there's nothing better than being in comfy and relaxing place and position, watching a great movie.
(Hope I didn't overlook an already existing topic about films)

Here's my mix of top 10 favourite and best movies for start (not quite sure about 100% order accuracy):

    1) GIA (Angelina Jolie, Elisabeth Mitchell, Mercedes Ruehl, Faye Dunaway. Directed by: Michael Cristofer)
    2) The Others (Nicole Kidman. Directed by: Alejandro Amenabar)
    3) Prisoners (Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal. Directed by: Denis Villeneuve)
    4) The Hunger Games (Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson. Directed by: Gary Ross)
    5) Only Lovers Left Alive (Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston. Directed by: Jim Jarmusch)
    6) The Prestige (Christian Bale, Scarlett Johansson, Hugh Jackman. Directed by: Christofer Nolan)
    7) The Notebook (Rachel McAdams, Ryan Gosling. Directed by: Nick Cassavetes)
The Green Mile (Tom Hanks. Directed by: Frank Darabont)
    9) Girl, Interrupted (Winona Ryder, Angelina Jolie. Directed by: James Mangold)
    10) Gone Girl (Rosamund Pike, Ben Affleck. Directed by: David Fincher)

Important to add: Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, Shutter Island, Original Sin, Se7en, I Origins, The Intouchables..

    How about you?

And do you choose a movie by genre, actors, director, recommendations, IMDB score...? Do you pay attention to these things?

Looking forward to read some good tips what to watch

The Others scared the crap out of me. The twist at the end was so unexpected. Definitely worth a watch I think.

Can't go past The Notebook either. I don't think there is a girl on the planet who doesn't like that one.

Girl, Interrupted was a great movie.
Gone Girl wacked me out too. The book isn't as good as the movie IMO.

Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind is one of my all time favourites. I WISH that technology was real.

    Some movies I love:
The Castle - it's an Australian movie. If you can download it somewhere it's worth the watch. Gives you a good idea what us Aussies are like.
Napoleon Dynamite - I think I like this movie because I'm a nerd. Endless quotes.
Old School - No explanation needed here.

I will add to this list later. I usually just choose a movie based on what others are saying about it. If it has an actor I like in it, I'll watch it too. And my favourite genre is comedy, so if it looks funny I'll give it a go.

Apart from the first Fast and the Furious movie I thought Tokyo Drift was pretty good too.

True, I agree! Rachel McAdams is so adorable, sometimes I watch a movie because she's acting (like The Vow for example)

Stopped listening when you mentioned The Hunger Games I feel asleep in the cinema :P

I really liked Prisoners. I am a big fan of
    Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Thought Gone Girl was overrated. Did you like Deadpool?

I think I watched the second Hunger Games.

I didn't think I would like Deadpool either but I was pleasantly surprised. It is better than most superhero movies.

I usually go by rotten tomates scoring, IMDB will rank anything that has ticket sales which also means a lot of child rated movies, anything which has low age ratings does well sales wise as parents will always take their kids to see it, even if its bad children don't notice, but for serious movies and quality acting then tomates is about as accurate as it gets take batman vs superman imdb 7 and Rotten Tomates 27% it was a really bad movie with great effects

I watched deadpool out of sympathy for my bf having 'man flu', and I ended up really enjoying it. I love the bit with the tiny hand lol

Wolf of Wall Street + 1, but i did prefer the book. The movie missed so many great bits.

The last movie I watched was 'The Secret Life of Pets'....and i have it say, I really enjoy it for being a kids movie!

I didn't realise that was the name. Loved that movie too. I managed to guess the ending and was pleased when I was right because I kept changing my mind.

I saw deadpool and was disappointed. I think because everyone was talking it up so much it just didn't hit the spot for me. I imagined it to be so much better than it was.

Dumb and Dumber - I just love Jim Carrey. 2 of my favourite movies of his are Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, and Me, Myself and Irene.
