Multilingual WordPress

Multilingual WordPress maintenance has been more difficult for me than translating the content itself. Caching and theme-level global settings make the cause difficult to isolate because several systems can affect the same menu. For people running multilingual affiliate sites: do you maintain separate menus manually, or have you found a translation workflow that stays reliable over time?

We're using Linguise as a translator plugin, and have been using it for a while now...

To answer your question, in my opinion, I'd go with the option which is simpler to maintain and is stable from all points of view.
