Default My first year as a casino affiliate

    Hello all.
I have visited GPWA daily the last months and i see a lot of questions from new affiliates or people considering to join in - and i will now give my feedback after one year.

My english is not the best, but i hope you all get it.

I am 24 years old today, and has been a experienced player the last 6-8 years, but i didnt know when to stop gambling and it left me in a economical ruin.

I always been attractd to affiliate marketing and 1 year ago i started to work on some sports betting affiliate sites in my spare time along with my job.

As an experienced player i know quite a lot about the bookmakers and almost every single sport.. and everytime my friends had an issue with betting online i could help them out.

I began to write a new articles to my affiliate site every day, a new topic everyday but didnt think that i had some visitors yet, and i was planning to buy the traffic.. but Google Analytics told me just to continue as i could see the amout of visitors were only going up.

I started to promote all the big programs (Bet365, Kindred, Betsson, Ladbrokes) out there and visited them daily to see if i have earned a player to my revshare deals..

unfortuneaty after 4 months i had only referred 6 players and wasnt earning anything.. so i lost interest to continue doing "free" work for myself.. but 1 month later i recieved a mail from a small program i even didnt realize i signed up to, that i have commission earned and i need to provide them with bank details..

i was sure that is was about 50€ or something but after i logged in i could see that i have referred 48 FTD players in one month to this casino and have earned 2148€!

I had the feeling of winning the lottery, so i started to dig in analytics to see where my pages are converting so well..

and it seems like that one article i made about alternative payment methods to bookies and casinos ended up as No 1. On Google.

This article is basicly still the one i earn money from but others are also on the way up.

At that moment i started to switch out programs on that article so if i was unlucky with a huge player win, i still had something..

the next few months i still earned min. 2K and i desided to quit my job and go all in..

i learned a lot and got my up's and down's in this period due to the trust to the programs.. Some programs did really test my tolerance due to payment delays, and the fact that it is my only income at that time it was very annoying when program started to act suspect.

But in the end i always got paid and must say that i see some benefits in small programs and big programs.

I like working with small programs because i feel that Im the boss, i can ask them to get special marketing material, promo codes and have them daily on Skype if there is any issues- its getting solved quick.. the problem with small programs is that you dont know of they close tomorrow, and i experienced some payment delays but it is always being sorted out.

The big programs is my issue right now.. because i always know i will get paid ( often in time) but they seems to be so big that my opinion on things dosent matter because they can afford to lose me as an affiliate.
Some of them is so big that i think its almost impossible to refer a new player to them ( Bet365 ) because all players already have a account.
They only run marketing promos in periods for all affiliates, so its impossible for me to get something special to give to my visitors.
Actually Kindred is the only big program where i earn money due to a good relaionship with the manager
and some good promotions they offers me to promote.

So after 1 year i admit that i was quite lucky with hitting the right keywords for my article but also being able to give out of all of my knowledge of the sport- and casino to potiential players.

A tip to new people who are concidering to join the business is try to find a small or a medium program to join, and look for a contact person and add them to Skype, tell them your situation and ask them to tell more about them selves, and if you have a good feeling then create a player account at their brand and find a niche or just something where they are special than others.. maybe " odds boosts " or if they can offer players to play multiple slots at the same time.. just something special - everyone have something if you just look after it.

thanks for letting me take 2 minutes of your life

Nice article with a lot of truth! Keep grinding. You did a risky move to cancel your job after 2 or 3 month with good revenue, so take care you don't regret it. Try to plan your success! To write a lot of content is good, to plan this while using keyword lists and publish this content with an exact goal is much better!

Thanks for interesting post and sharing your experience. I agree with @eenzoo, it was a very risky step to cancel your daily job, but it's clear from your analysis and thoughts, that you have already chosen your direction . Good luck.

    Really cool!
I do believe that many new affiliates thinks this is easy money and they start building a site, but then gives up when the results don't come right away.

In this business you have to keep going at it and realize that the longer you keep going the bigger the probability for revenue will become.

Thanks a lot for sharing this inspirational journey

I am sure it will be an inspiration and great motivation to many New Affiliates struggling, as it is a very tough industry to get into, and lots of hard work, but also great rewards too!

A good read, it's always good to hear about people's experiences starting out. Keep going and I do think you've made the right choice to go full time, it frees up so much more time and energy to really go for this and get better at what you do.

Success is always very near. I wonder what would happen without the one article that shot through.
Actually some fluke like that happened to me as well and I even did not realize it happened. Just years later I was investigating old data and saw that something worked a bit. I could not evaluate by the time how important piece of data I had. It is important to pay attention to details.
