Default N.J. Assembly approves sports betting measure

The New Jersey Assembly approved a package of bills yesterday intended to boost the state's struggling gambling industry. Included in those bills is a measure to legalize sports betting at casinos and racetracks. The sports betting bill will next go before voters.

A measure that would legalize online gambling in the state has been pushed back, however.

    From The Philadelphia Inquirer:

A vote on a bill to authorize Internet wagering by New Jersey residents on poker and other casino-type games was referred to the Assembly Budget Committee because it contains a tax provision. It goes before the full Assembly on Jan. 6.

Hope all goes well at the January 6th Assembly. I am hopeful everything will move forward and NJ will be the first state to legalize online gambling.

When one state steps up to legalize and regulate, the other states will be watching. If all goes well and revenue starts streaming into the state coffers. The others will be racing to follow suit. IMO.

Well, maybe the bill for online gambling legalization will soon be approved. Just see the sports betting approval as a positive sign for online gambling legalization in the future. Who knows it will come next.
