Default N.J. expectations for online gambling revenues too rosy, report says

One of the main reasons New Jersey Governor Chris Christie found online gambling palatable was his belief that it would raise a great deal of revenue for his cash-strapped state. According to a recent report by GamblingData, Christie's expectations may have more than four-fold too high.

Governor Chris Christie’s administration is hoping for $180m in total gambling revenues in the first year. At a 15% tax rate, GamblingData’s figures suggest first year tax receipts will be less than $40m.

Pennsylvania stole all of NJ's casino money when they opened a ton of new casinos over last few years outside of Phillidelphia. Online gambling could save them financially indeed!
