I agree with you 100% i am not talking about 20 emails a week I stated 1 or 2 emails life time yet if i do that I will be black listed to me that makes no sense, but of course I akm not the affiliate I am the operator.

AM's need to look before they just start banging away at contact forms.

I don't immediately jump all over people for a one-off email.

Your "what if" scenario said you were gonna contact me from you regular email account.

Ok, answer question #1. Where did you get my email?

If you did so by doing a whois search, how about having the guts to tell me that in the email?

This method is a lot more effective if you also mention the website. And since I own an ever-growing list of domains, how about you only contact me once and don't send me the same "so called" personalized email 50 or 60 or 70 times?

Please note Shaun: I am NOT saying you did this or would practice such a way....but I have had this done to me many many times.....

You listed the "what if" scenario, and if it was a one off mailing and personal to me and contained a fair amount of honesty etc I would likely either respond, or file it into a folder of mails that I hope to follow up on one day.

However, if a week or so later I get another one and then more in the coming weeks...then yes, it is starting to look like spam.

Relax Shaun, I don't think anyone is accusing you of spamming....but this is a very healthy discussion....the difference between honest marketing etc and spam can be a very fine line at times....

Oh and the pm's, yea I don't mind an occassional one....but operators need to understand, there are potentiially 100 operations that will send us an occassional pm....and even if that equals 2 per month, that adds up to 200 pms per month.

Oh, and on the subject of emails. Almost every single day I get spammed at my email account on my whois from programs I already belong to. WTF is wrong with a little reasearch before approaching me? If you don't have the time to do that then what you are doing is likely classified as spam...

An affiliate manager does a search, goes to the website, doesn't see their banner above the fold, takes the domain and does a whois, takes the email account, opens a new email and pastes his offer into the email and clicks send. Then that manager goes back to the search page and follows the next link.

Shaun (and every other operator out there) this is something that affiliates live with on a day-to-day basis, and after we get a few thousand of these over the course of time we start to get a little fed up with the practice....

Let me restate: Relax Shaun, I don't think anyone is accusing you of spamming....but this is a very healthy discussion....the difference between honest marketing etc and spam can be a very fine line at times....

The thing that bugs me the very most about sam rules, terms etc....

The exact same methods that you use to approach affiliates to join YOUR PROGRAM, can and l;ike WILL be used by affiliates to approach players!! If you have somthing against the way that affiliates do that using email, then you need to take a close look at the method you use to get affiliates.

I know what you are saying and i love this kind of thread.

But for teh record i want state for the record i would never buy data really not my style, and as for getting emails i would have a hunt around on your sites or send you a PM, to be honest i have only ever pitched 2 affiliates via PM on the GPWA maybe i should do more .

As for not deoing rsearch on who you are contact well i think that is unacceptable and to be hinest i would drop them like a rock or if the staff member worked for me they would be gone.

So Rick whats your emails i want to add you to my spam list .
