    Default New GPWA forum member - introduction

    Hi Everyone,

    This is a great site and forum, I have to say. One of the best I've seen so far. I also applied for a GPWA membership. Do you think I have a chance?

    My site:http://www.gamblingdeal.com

    Please have a look and criticize! . I can do the praising myself .

    I need some advice on the coloring. and navigation, plus promotion. My backrgound and colors is unusual, but I kind of did it on purpose to be different. But do you think it is all right? I am getting pretty good conversion, so my site does work more or less. But I am a perfectionist of course. We all are, aren't we? . So any ideas what to add to increase the conversion? where to put some more banners, etc. how long tites descriptions, etc. to have, etc. I am looking for a way how to analyze the traffic that comes to my site. Any good software or tips you use?

    I get my traffic almost solely from PPC's. Any general ideas of other good (cheaper) sources of traffic that generally work? Banners? pop-ups/-unders? SEO?(free search traffic) - I need big advice on this - how to get your site listed AND updated often, as I frequently change the content.
    Thank you all in advance, and anyone who wants to sell some traffic to me, just let me know! I have SPAM and am 100% against it, and I am afraid even the so-called "double opt-in" lists aren't as double-opt-in as they sound.

    Once again, thank you for your ideas! Don't be shy to criticize. It's better if you criticize than if my customer(visitor) does, right?.

    I like the site.

    I found a few bad links tho

    http://www.gamblingdeal.com/online_casino_software.htm
    and also the site map and casino news and gambling directory...

    You may probably want to add a series of pages for link exchanges as well..unless thats what the gambling directory is to be for...

    Hi Webbie and welcome. I just had a brief look at your site - nice job Its very quick to load, clear and concise, the only thing I had a slight problem with was the green link text against the blackbackground - I noticed you have added a red mouseover which helps but nevertheless I would probably change the green for a lighter or brighter shade. As for membership to the private forums this can take a little while to complete as certain checks have to be made, but good luck

    Best wishes

    Pam

    Wow!

    You are so darn fast! Sorry about the 404 pages, I am still completing and uploading some pages. Yes, the Gambling Directory will be dedicated to gambling links. I find it better than naming it "links". Thank you for your tips!

    Pam712, about the green links, that's a very good point, so I want to get it corrected. I am still working on the color scheme. It's in the external css, so it will not be much pain to change it

    Anyone here selling some good traffic? Just let me know. Or is there a special sub-forum for traffic?

    There are a few members here selling traffic. WildBill, our GPWA manager, is one of them. Casino Glen is another. Check the Other Marketing Offers forum and you will probably find a few more.

    Hey Webbie!

    Gorgeous site! I really like it, very sleek and elegant. I don't think I could give you any more advice, you seem to have everything pat down quite well. The layout is very SE friendly, the text is keyword rich and its good content to offer. If you keep adding stuff over time, you could build a loyal following to your site.

    I wish you many profits!! Which shouldn't be so difficult with your site and the help of GPWAers.

    The one major problem I have with the site is the way it bounces around when you mouse over some text.

    Using CSS to highlight text like this is effective IF the site design doesn't bounce around eg. mouse over the 'progressive jackpots' text at the top right

    I've been using Xenu's link sleuth to check links for a while. You can download it from

    http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html

    There are quite a few alternatives you can find through Google as well.

    Thanx for advice! I don't like that 'moving' ot the text either. I just don't know the best way how to get rid of it. Any advice?

    If you change your css style sheet not to be bold on hover over it should be good.

    If you keep it the same font size and just have it change color on hover it wont move things around.

    I use the hover all the time but just to underline or change color because of how the bolding or changing the font size messes up things

    I had a look at your code, all you need to do is change

    Code:
    a:link       { color: blue; font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana }
    a:visited      { color: blue; font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana }
    a:hover        { color: red; font-weight: bold; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana; text-decoration: underline  }
    a:active	{ color: red; font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana; text-decoration: none  }

    To

    Code:
    a:link       { color: blue; font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana }
    a:visited      { color: blue; font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana }
    a:hover      { color: #FF0000; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana; text-decoration:
                   underline }
    a:active	{ color: red; font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana; text-decoration: none  }

    I just tested it and it worked

    Oops

    I forgot to welcome you to the board

    Welcome!!! You have stumbled on one of the best gambling webmaster resources ever!! I should know, I did and now I'm a member for a year
    I have never learned so much and I don't think I would have if it were not for the GPWA!! My sites have evolved into nice looking sites just from what I learned here!

    One more thing, you might want to change your blue link colors to something a bit brighter, like yellow. they were a bit hard to see and I have good eyes. You may have visitors with not so great eyesight
