    Arrow New GPWA Job Opening

I'm pleased to announce that we have a new job opening at the GPWA for an Online Community Program Coordinator. Previously, much of the administrative support for processing membership applications and seal requests has been handled by the Casino City online gaming content development organization. We expect the new position will result in more active participation in the GPWA community, and in a stronger advocacy role for honest and ethical behavior by both portal webmasters and sponsor affiliate programs.

For anyone who might be interested, here is a copy of the job description:

    Online Community Program Coordinator

The Gambling Portal Webmasters Association (GPWA), founded in 2001 and headquartered in Newton, Massachusetts, is a diverse international community of website operators and those they work with in promoting online gaming. We run a variety of programs whose objective is to enhance the social interaction, collaboration, professional advancement, and business success of our members. The GPWA publishes a weekly email newsletter and the GPWA Times Magazine, sponsors an annual conference, administers a Seal of Approval program, and offers its members the opportunity to share information in our forums.

If you’re an energetic, detail-oriented individual who enjoys participating in forums and understands the role that social networking can play in sparking interest among current and potential members of our online community, we invite you to consider joining us. Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to the following:

    • Becoming an active, well-known, respected participant in the GPWA online community and moderating our forums together with other team members
    • Soliciting submissions and reviewing websites of prospective members and Seal of Approval applicants for adherence to the GPWA Code of Conduct
    • Maintaining a directory of members and portal websites and conducting reviews of portal websites to describe and classify their content
    • Participating in strategic planning and in the design and development of GPWA programs, including ways to grow our membership
    • Acting as a strong advocate for honest and ethical behavior on the part of both portal webmasters and affiliate programs.
    • Other information-gathering, administrative, new member marketing, and program projects as they arise

Requirements: In addition to possessing a BA/BS degree, top-notch communication and investigative skills, a solid Internet background, and an interest in the business of online gaming promotion, the ideal candidate for this full-time, salaried position will have a warm, outgoing online persona and the ability to bond with the people he or she is interacting with. A demonstrated willingness to become involved and the ability to involve others are keys to success in this position.

Benefits: We offer significant growth opportunities, a great working environment, competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and a convenient location in the Boston suburb of Newton.
To apply, please email your resume and cover letter to jobs@gpwa.org. Any GPWA members who are interested in the position will receive special consideration.

I'd just like to clarify that we are looking for someone who would be able to accept a position where the work location was our Newton, Massachusetts office.

Eventually we may have some openings that could be filled by staff that worked remotely. However, right now we are looking for someone who can work in the office here along with everyone else.

We tend not to work with fixed salary ranges, and even when we have ideas in mind, we often deviate from them significantly for someone more senior than we were expecting to find when there is a good match on the talent front and a good business justification.

But I am happy to respond in a pm with a more responsive reply about whether I think there might be a match given some background/experience information and compensation requirements.

This sounds like a great job! Got another year and a half a school. Plus my daughter would end up living with grandma and grandpa if I up and moved from Florida. lol

    Great opportunity for someone.

This is a great opportunity. Anyone in the area I encourage to apply. I happen to be a couple hours away from Casino City. Boston is a great city.

I would apply if I was closer but I am on the Cape and can't tear myself away from the beach.

What a pity that I live near Munich in Germany, a few miles away from Boston (which is a real nice city), and that I am already 72. Otherwise I would have loved to have a go at this job.

    Michael,
Is it because you find that if your staff is local you get more productivity? I can imagine that having a local team would foster a "team" orientated work environment with more productivity and "cohesion"?

Hmmm, I am tempted! I am not sure that I could pick up sticks and cross the atlantic right now though. I am sure that this would be an excellent job for someone with an industry background.

Michael, please make sure that you continue to post available jobs on here. It is nice to dream!
