    Default New PM Format Suggestion

Is it not time to upgrade the GPWA pm system to reflect one continuous timeline? Something along the lines of WhatsApp. The current system seems a bit archaic.

No way would I want all pm's with any single person, or subject, to be one continuous thread.

    Why do you say that?

It would certainly make the pm easier to read over time. The only way a current pm message has any continuity is for each reply to quote the previous reply which, IMO, is a bit antiquated.

I personally have some contacts that I literally have hundreds and hundreds of pm's with over time and do not want those to be in a single thread.

The pm system here is extremely funcional and allows you to create specific folders to move pm's into by person or subject etc....instead of having to dig through an entire string of posts in a single tread to find a response someone provided on a specific subject possibly weeks before, possibly long before dozens of other responses on different subjects other then the one you are trying to find.

If you have specific folks that you feel would be kept better track of that way, give them your whatsapp.

Its not only the pm system the whole board is outdated.

We have 4.2.2 this version is from 2013. And im really missing some addons, like notification or Dashboard.
Im know nobody like changes but the latest versions from vb is much better to use.

We did used to try to keep up on vBulletin versions. But it got complicated when the 5.0 version came out with a lot of bugs, and also because we use vbSEO, which was not available on newer 5.0 versions, and so for a period of time we held off doing anything because I had viewed it would be a step backwards. But that was quite some time ago now, and so the tactical decision to hold off upgrading for a while and let the dust settle, certainly should be evaluated again. Although over the next few months we will be pretty busy since we are moving our office and datacenter over the next few months, so I would want to look at this once we were not dealing with the issues related to the move.

I definitely agree it would be good if the messages within a conversation with a person were in a continuous page (ie: like a normal thread, but private) but I wouldn't want all messages between myself and that person to be in the same thread. It'd get too confusing and make it a lot harder to look back.
