    Default New site feedback

    Hi everyone,

Let me first introduce myself: my name is Gabe, and I'm from the US.

I've been working on an online casino information website for the past few months, and I would really like to hear what you guys think about the site. If you have a couple of minutes to take a look, and offer a few words letting me know how I'm doing, I would greatly appreciate it.

For now I'm targeting players from the USA, and other English speaking countries, but I'm thinking about translating it into other languages in the future.

The site is www[dot]royal7casinos.com (This is my first post so it won't let me post a link. There should be a link in my profile though)

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

    Hi Gabe,

    First of all welcome!

I think you got a nice start here but maybe it's a good idea to try other colours for your site. Your main navigation is a bit too dark in my opinion and your main text background colour should be more easy on the eyes.

    good luck with your site

    Welcome Gabe!

I'm really impressed with how much content you've got already. I might incorporate some of your news or blog headlines above the fold on the homepage, to balance on the promotional links, but overall I think your layout is quite good.

I agree with the other feedback about the colour scheme though, I would go with something a bit lighter and more modern looking.

    Cheers,

I have to say that I too am impressed with the amount of content that you already have on your site. As I have heard so often on these forums "content is king", you should do well with what you have.

I do have to agree about the color scheme on your website. First impression is that it is dark, without a lot of contrast. I have found that the lighter colors in the background with darker text seem to sit better on our eyes.

Welcome to the forums. If you are looking for honest feedback, you have certainly come to the right place. I wish you great luck in this endeavor of yours!

I'm going to go against the grain here - I don't mind the somber colors scheme.

What I would suggest is reversing the link colors in your nav bar. Make the links white and the hover color black.

Agree with everyone on the content, well done!

I would make the graphics and logos in your "featured casinos" section clickable. They should be your main calls to action.

I would redirect http://www.royal7casinos.com/index.html to http://www.royal7casinos.com/ so you're not splitting the link juice and PR between the two pages.

I'm under the gun time wise this afternoon so I only looked at your home page but if the rest of the site is as well done, you have a great beginning in this business.

    Congrats!!

This is pretty good looking site, but I would pay more attention to clearer calls to action. These days most of the people just skim sites and thus you want to make those DOWNLOAD etc. things to really catch their attention.

    Good luck with the site.

    Hey,

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to check out my site. I'm very grateful for your suggestions. I tried adding more contrast to the site with some reddish tones (pastels and darker ones as well). I'm also working on some of the other advice you all gave.

I must say you all really know how to make a guy feel welcome!

    Hi Gabe,

You really have a lot of great content on your site. You should highlight the unique content more so that visitors know you're a quality site. When I first look at the page I see a lot of ads which turns me off. And I don't see the articles until I scroll down. I'd put more of your unique content above the fold.

I don't mind the color scheme.

The main page also has a lot of things going on (content, ads, reviews, featured casinos, etc.). I'd focus on your strength which is your content and put the ads deeper within the site.

Keep up the work, it takes time and patience to develop a great website.

    Steve

Thanks for the tip, Steve. You made a good point. I moved the content table higher up on the site, and bumped the casino bonuses lower down so visitors see more text when they first land on the homepage. I think this is what you meant.

I like your site and color scheme, good content and clear navigation. If there was anything I would add is a couple featured news piece headlines or article teasers on front page with pictures. This tends to "humanize" the site for visitors and increases read rate on content pages.

Good luck and welcome to GPWA

Thanks for the advice, Professor. I tried to follow your suggestion by adding a picture to some blog text, and laying it out alongside some text from the blackjack strategy. That small change looks like it adds a lot to the homepage.
