Default New site - Feedback welcome mysportstips.co.uk

    Hi

New to the forum and the industry.

Have started a new site on the back of writing for a few major sports portals. Would love to hear any opinion feedback on the new site. Also any pointers from wise old heads would be most welcome.

    Many Thanks

Welcome to GPWA and good luck with your site!

The site looks professional so you have a good base to work from. In the top bar, only the first 7 characters of the post name show which looks a little strange. I think you are wasting a lot of space with making the header image so big - I'd raise up the main header image text a few hundred pixels and that way the second set of news articles will show above the fold on more screen sizes. I would also put less banner adverts on the page as they overload the user - they are looking for good content (tips) rather than banners - less can be more. I would focus on converting people within your posts (as you are doing) as I would expect that the majority of your traffic will initially come from long tail keywords.

    Hi Luke,

Thanks for the feedback, it is much appreciated. Agree with much of what you have said. In the end we want to drive traffic and signups from great content as apposed to a load of banners, so pleased to hear you say that.

Will post again on any changes we make.

I like the site a lot, I think it has some great potential. Luke also gave you some very valuable information.

I would focus right now and get some articles on Wimbledon, NBA finals(already started) and the Confederations Cup in football thats coming up soon. With those I would think you would have a great amount of content for upcoming and current events.

I know its not much but I hope it helps, best of luck to you and congrats on a great site.

Welcome to the forum! Very well organized site and good color scheme. It looks very professional. Depending on how old your site is and if you have done any seo, I would target events that are taking place in 45 days or later to give yourself time to get better serps. You could target the world series, the next football and basketball season.

@Gabriel has a good point with the latest events such as the NBA finals, if you get a nice social network following you may get some good players from that. I just started a new nba site and I am writing content for the finals but my target date for the site to be fully developed is for the 2013-2014 season. Keep up the good work!
