Default New Website - What Do You Guys Think

    Hi Guys,

first post and first design of a gambling nature so please be gentle. We have a new website http://everydaytips.co.uk
We have premier league & champions league tips. We like it but we'd like to know what the masses make of it.

    Thank you in advance

The design is excellent. Simple, clear and inviting.

The content is probably not enough. But since you start, that is normal.

The major problem is that the site is too slow.

Agree with Mario, layout is brilliant, really straightforward to get around the site.

Content looks a little thin, think you need to include some text with your tips, especially as it's a tips website.

The star rating system doesn't mean much to me as there is no context given to them via content.

    Great job tho!

    Nice, clean and tidy.
May I ask how is going the "casino spot"?

    PROS :
1/ It is colourful and tidy - you have a good eye for layout.
2/ The layout is mobile responsive.

    CONS :
1/ It is VERY VERY slow to respond to clicks.
2/ The "tips" content is very weak with just betting tips and zero analysis.
3/ The responsive format for mobile is clunky - mainly because it's lots of tables and very little free text.

    SUMMARY :
While the initial layout looks good - the slow responses and lack of reading make this website less than it could be.
That can be fixed with better content - and a much faster host.

At present - if I found this site "in the wild" it's unlikely that I would stay long, bookmark it, or want to return to it.

Here to offer encouragement on what looks like a really good start with this site.

Everything that's already been said is excellent advice with the content and page-load times seeming to be the bigger priorities.

My own comment refers just to your freebets page. For a site that in general is very well laid out, your freebets page, with 24 rotating banners is just too much; it overwhelms the eye and is very confusing.

In general, flashy banners are driving increasingly fewer and fewer players (which is why content is so important) I would recommend that you replace the banners with simple, quality, static logos. My other tip for this page would be 'Where do you want me to click?' I've found your site by typing sports bet terms in to google so as a reader I'm pre-qualified; I'm looking to make a bet and for some advice and help.

I'm ready to bet so what is going to stop me?

I want you to guide me and suggest where is best. You have 24 bookmakers on the freebets page and each of them gets equal space and prominence. Are you saying that they are all just as good (or as bad) as each other? I'm ready to bet, so what is going to stop me?

I would recommend that you split the page up into 'The Best' and 'The Rest'. Take 4 bookmakers and give them more real estate on the page at the top and give maybe 3 bullet points on each about why you rate them. You can rotate and test and optimise through these positions and see what converts. Perhaps 'The Best' get to have their own review page that you can click through to read? You may find it harder to convert brands that already have a massive following such as bet365 or you may find that their brand reputation still delivers for you - you can test and optimise to find what works.

You may get better conversion at a smaller, newer brand that has more headroom for growth - but in that case you will need to convince me of the benefits of this new brand I haven't heard of.

Finally, I hope that these suggestions help and keep you encouraged - all the best

From my point of view, design to one side (looks great btw) I would say you really need to address your server response time. Slow loading pages not only lose you traffic/conversions but may harm your SEO rankings. Currently page response is over 3 seconds is some cases and you should really be aiming for less than 1 second at least. Ideally around 200ms. This sounds a long way off but believe me it is achievable.

I see you are using Wordpress, have you tried any caching plugins?
These could significantly improve your TTFB and thus give your users a much better overall experience.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for your feedback guys it's given us plenty to think about we know our tips require justification and providing contents to recommend bookmakers is a good idea too thank you.

We are in the middle of trying to resolve page Load times. We believe most speed is lost in database queries in loading the games and times etc.... the plugin we use for that does a lot of work we are hoping to do a lot more with this plugin which could ease customers with nice information.

The free bets page is our next page to take a good look at so thank you everyone for your brutal and honest feedback.

The site's using the free version of CloudFlare. I'd suggest a much faster host. I wouldn't use CF if you paid me. Why? CF is also known as CrimeFlare. They allow all manner of dodgy sites. I wouldn't want my site associated to these.

This is where I'm inexperienced I just searched free cdn. I've tried 4 different hosts and the number of queries thanks to the plugin for the matches etc... it just stays slow. I've kept it at the host that performs the best tbh. Cloud flare allow me to change dns instant too which is why I originally came when I was trying different hosts.

Is there better free CDN? We don't want to pay any more out at the moment. What hosts are people using atm?

The host obviously plays an important role in the speed of a site but the code plays a role at least as important.

    Great stuff!

I won't repeat what the others said, just will try contributing with some new items:
    1) the placement of Email Sign Up is quite strange. It is usually placed in the sidebar. Currently, it seems to be taken too much horizontal space.
    2) I am not sure about the usage of the capital letters. Perhaps, capitalizing the first letter would make the info more readable.

Seems like a great start, good luck with it!

Thanks for your input. We have the email form there as it appears higher up the ground. I know the key to keeping things working is email captures. Sidebar would mean it appears right down the page.

Capitalisation in the places it has are down to theme that supports sportspress. We are very reliant on sportspress for our fixtures, tables and other match data.

Small possible help please people? I have tried as best as possible to squeeze down my site speed.

Can anyone let me know their thoughts? We are working on other suggestions made but prioritised site speed at the moment

Great design. It loads fast enough for me.

I would suggest you to cloak your affiliate links.
