If you're not familiar with the Extreme Poker Championships, here's a bit of a history lesson.
InterPoker started doing this a few years ago as a publicity stunt. A few online qualifiers are flown to a destination and they play a mini sit-n-go against some pros.
They hosted one event underwater (Juha Helppi won), then another on a frozen lake in Finland (Robert Varkonyi won). The third event was in Vegas last summer. Dubbed Loser's Leap, players were in an airplane, as and they busted they parachuted down to the desert floor. Some amatuer won the last one (Grudzien Wins InterPoker.com's Loser's Leap).
Now they're doing the fourth installment. It will take place on a platform 90 meters above the ocean, hanging off a cliff in Australia. Curious if the pros will actually play or if they'll back out like they did at Loser's Leap. And Buzzy wonders how they found an Internet qualifier off the street so quickly when all the pros backed out that morning ...
Antonio Esfandiari and Scott Fischman were originally scheduled to participate in the event, but Esfandiari was a last-minute scratch as he came down with a cold and did not make it to Jean Airport. Fischman, who endorses InterPoker.com, was at the event, but did not participate due to a wrist injury. A fourth Internet qualifier was added to increase the field to five players.
