Default Next year's ICE London will be pushed back to April

When Clarion announced earlier this week that it would be holding a rare "press conference" on Thursday, 16 July, rumors started swirling that ICE London 2021 was in jeopardy.

Today, it was confirmed that the world's largest gaming show that is annually held in early February, in conjunction with iGB Affiliate London, will be moved to April due to continuing concerns over COVID-19.

    From iNTERGAME Online:

It had been due to run on February 2-4, 2021, but Clarion stated that there was “some doubt and nervousness” surrounding that date given the “disruption and impact” of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In an email, Clarion Gaming’s managing director Kate Chambers said: “While the world is likely to be in a much better place in April 2021, I’m certain that we will experience more bumps in the road.

"However, I’m confident that with the on-going support of the ICE London and iGB Affiliate communities as well as the dedication of the Clarion Gaming team, we can navigate those challenges and deliver events that all sectors of the international industry want and need.”

Any word on LAC? I had a hunch these conferences wouldn't be going ahead in Jan so no great surprise there!

I wonder if they will push the date back even further because of covid. I'm guessing most likely they will until they can really get this problem under wraps. It's way out of control, running its course of destruction and taking too many lives along with it

The link works fine now 👍

Would be interested to know about the LAC, would be odd to move the LAC from January when they have just announced the AAC in September.

It will be interesting to see whether it will be pushed back again due to travel restrictions from countries outside Europe/UK.

I do not see any conferences helding soon.

Looking at the figures world-wide situations is getiing worse and worse.

Israel was also a very good example, but now they have over 55 k infected and many protests on the streets.

I was positive about Sigma 2020 , but just imagine people from all over to come to Malta and to bring back the Covid19 there.

Malta is doing ok by now.
Seven times fall, eight times stand.

I agree with @drifter8 that countries like Malta and other smaller ones are handling the COVID-19 quite good and to hold conference and shows like SiGMA or ICE - is just too risky.

Don't think we need to rush with renewing such shows where the main target is to meet people from around the world, close deals, have a great time together, exchange contacts, ideas and these times possibly exchange something unwanted as well... We already see that opening boarders caused some spikes in countries where it was under control.

About the ICE in particular, I think they should postpone the event until this whole madness has a light at the end of the tunnel, as I think in the long-term there are more important things. The countries are lowering the restrictions only because otherwise we will have very, very cold winter financially. The global COVID-19 rates are not getting much better... Online businesses are now seeing growth in most of the industries, but this is only because of the physical restrictions (good example is gambling).

Keep in mind, if it continues too long or we have real second wave the things will end up really bad for everyone, as now major part of people are starting to spend or live on their savings, when savings will end, the real hell could begin. Governments can't pump money intro economy for ever and the debts will have to be returned, so most of the Regulated gambling markets has to prepare for a tax increase in next 1-3 years as well.

And regarding some good things, I am 100% for ICE to be held in spring time! London in beginning of the February, for real? Why? Who's idea was it from the day 1? Love the show, but hate coming back from the ICE every year with a runny nose...

Have booked hotel, flights and tickets. They seem confident it will go ahead. If gets re arranged will just have to change flights and hotel. Hope it does as not been to Amsterdam before

Losing a loved one regardless of the reason, isn't a nice experience.

However, lets put this into perspective, and not make grandstand stupid statements.

The common cold or other non life threatening medical issues, would have taken the majority of those who have passed away from covid19 complications. One of the latest causalities was over 100 years old.

Think we are going to make the trip, heard the drive can be nice from the channel tunnel to Amsderdam so think we going to do that.

Amsterdam is one of my favourite players, complete opposite of London conference. If the weather is nice no need for public transport, tubes etc. You can walk, cycle everywhere.

Good decision to move the date. Will be interesting if it will be further delayed. On the bright side ... April is much better to be in London than February.

There is a thread somewhere, what they have said is the venue is already running events and unless something happens due to covid it will go ahead.
