I am happy to be employed in this current economic crisis, if I did happen to win anything I would try and solve the worlds financial crisis, campaign for world peace and open up an fluffy bunny sanctuary.

Thanks Alex! I'd love to stay at the venue hotel now that I know the awards will be there so I more than likely will. Still debating since there is a little time, but thanks much for the link!

I just checked and looks like it's a good rate for a 5 star venue. If my calcuation is right it will be about $200 a night.

    Hi Alex,

I sent you the following email yesterday. But in case it gets sent to a spam folder or overlooked... I'm also posting it here.

    Hi Alex,

Quick question. How do the nominations for the IGB Affiliate Awards work? For example, does an affiliate manager need more than one 'nomination' to be on the voting ballot? Or is one nomination enough to put them on the voting ballot?

This part isn't clear to me. It seems like one should only need to be nominated once, then the rest would be the voting, and the 5 with the most votes would go to the judges panel. But it's not clear how nominations are handled.

    Please clarify.

I think its a case of everyone who is nominated goes into the mix for the final voting poll. At the end of it Renee wins.

Sorry - Busy working down the emails - Have hundreds piling up for iGB Espana and London - All sorts of fun!

In answer to yoru question - there isn't a 100% answer as it depends on the category and teh number of nominations. For example some categories get a limited amount of nominations such as best iGaming Affiliate Network as there is only a limited number of these so most people nominated in there "should" get to the voting stage.

On the other hand some categories get loads of nominations so we have to unfortunately lose some people from the running in those ones but it tends to be limited to a few categories and isn't a lot of people/programs as we want as much choice as possible.

To give you an idea of the number of nominations we recieve, right now we have had 178 genuine nominations and I expect this to finish around 300 maybe more. The voting is the bit when it goes nuts as everyone comes out the wood work for that.

You would be surprised to see the back end as there it is very rare a program/affiliate/manager gets just one nomination - I think if they/he/she are good most people know

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for the quick reply here. Although I do understand that this must be very time consuming, I'm disappointed to hear that all legitimate nominations are not put on the ballot. There must be a way to do that, with drop down menu's or something.

I don't think this process is clear on your site. And I honestly thought it was votes that one would need a lot of, not nominations. It's a great thing you have put together, this whole awards event. But I don't feel so good about the way nominations and votes are counted now.

It seems a little more like it's for show then reality now. I'm a little disheartened. (Is that a word? LOL)

I guess I can't understand fully all that goes on to make this all work and we do appreciate the time and effort you put in or all this.

    Thanks again..

Thanks for this - The awards system is constantly evolving to ensure it is fair and represents what the industry thinks and I think you make some great point here.

SO in conclusion I agree unless the nominatiion is irrelevent (Dominique has already been nominated as the best overall affiliate manager and bingo affiliate manager twice!!! ) or there are literally hundreds of nominations for that category as we have to cut it off somewhere the most nominations will be listed.

    How does that sound?

Just a question Marit, i went along and voted for 1 person in 1 category with the intention of going back to vote for the rest of the categories at a later date.

I then realsied the 1 person 1 vote rule so does this mean i may not vote for any more in different categories?

They did not know what they were letting themselves in for when they gave me a computer LOL I know i am a silly old duffer!

    Hey Chalkie!

Sorry if it was confusing! You can vote in as many categories as you want - but by clicking the 'vote now' button you pretty much ended your vote! We have to make sure that people can only vote once - otherwise we would get people putting themselves forward a thousand times - so its all IP Tracked.

But not to worry, if you want to nominate some extra people just PM me with the categories and names and I will add them on the list for you.

    Take care
