The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) expects its digital gambling revenue to soar by 41%, exceeding $1 billion within the next four years.

This ambitious projection comes from the OLG's Fiscal 2025-28 Business Plan, which was released last week. The OLG's fiscal year runs from April 1 to March 31. The plan forecasts digital revenue to reach:

$745 million in FY 2023-24
$819 million in FY 2024-25
$895 million in FY 2025-26
$971 million in FY 2026-27
$1.049 billion in FY 2027-28

From Gaming News Canada:

The impressive part is how well the OLG has done competing in an open online gambling industry home to more than 50 operators offering more than 80 different gambling platforms. Stakeholders in Ontario’s open sports betting and igaming market are quick to highlight OLG’s growth when making the case for other provinces to follow suit.

“Our digital business continues to show strong growth,” said the report. “OLG continues to be a leader in market share in Ontario since the launch of the regulated market for online gambling on April 4, 2022.”

It’s important to note that unlike other Ontario operators, the OLG offers iLottery products — as well as sports betting and an online casino. iLottery revenue is included in the most recent assessment of its digital business.

But even taking out iLottery, the OLG has performed well recently. In its annual reports, the OLG breaks down digital between a combined online casino and sports betting total and iLottery. Taking out iLottery and comparing the other digital revenue to the rest of the online gambling sector, OLG has produced online revenue that is about 20% of the total of all the other operators, which is significant.
