Fascinating story. Ren Bin, the head of the operation, was sentenced to seven years in jail and fined 6 million yuan. Five others, Liu Ping, Liu Guoliang, Liu Baolin, Guo Qin and Ni Liqiang, received small jail terms and fines. It appears Chinese authorities had no idea who was running the operation until Liu Baolin reported to police that one million yuan had been stolen from his apartment. Liu Baolin couldn't explain to police what he was doing with one million in cash and the whole operation unraveled. The site was apparently doing big business, with total wagers surpassing five billion yuan (US$646 million).
