Question/observation. Are you just selling the names? If so then it is no longer an opt in list and becomes 50K names to spam, or are you selling the list that these people actually signed up to receive.

I am selling a list of emails that people have double opted into and have indicated their desire to be mailed online gambling related information. If you consider that spam then that is your opinion, but I am sure there are many who can see the value of obtaining such a list. BTW, I am willing to rent this list as well.

If the list is a good one why don't you sign up for an affiliate program and use the list to promote your affiliate casino?

Hmmm, Gambling Portal Webmaster Association... what is it you think I do? I do mail to this list, and, as I said, I would be willing to sell, or rent it. So are you interested in the list?

Well, from a personal point of view, if you are willing to sell out your visitors privacy by selling/renting their names, I already KNOW what you do.

Hello Straightflushes,
As you can see, we consider ourselves an ethical group of webmasters, and do not believe in the buying and selling of names that have been collected by others.
"Opt-in" means visitors have chosen to receive specific mailings from that particular site - not "gambling related material" from anyone.
You must realize that what you're doing is not quite ethical either, or you wouldn't be hiding behind that generic email address. Nor do I have that email registered as belonging to any of our member webmasters.

Hmmm, I'm sure you're not too upset when one of your surfers loses a few grand at one of your sponsor's casino sites. I don't see what makes you think you have the moral high ground. The surfers on my list have asked for info on online gambling. I regularly mail them promos for online casinos. If I rent my list it means someone pays me to mail out a promo for their casino. Where is the ethical problem there? The surfer asked for info on online casinos and that is what he got. If I sell my list it will be sold to a casino owner/webmaster who will mail the surfer online gambling content. The surfer is still getting what he asked for, and at all times has an opportunity to remove himself from the list.
If you "KNOW" what I do, then you know how much money can be made with a good email list.

I'm not trying to start an argument either, but surely you can understand our scepticism.
A double opt-in list of gamblers is probably the most valuable list on the market. The more people who have access to it, the less valuable it becomes.
If you collected this list yourself then, in my opinion, you should guard it as if it were gold dust.
You are offering for sale the goose that lays the golden egg - obviously some people are going to be sceptical.

Did I say I was selling it cheap??? I own some very valuable domain names as well and I would sell them for the right price too. The point is, whether I sell the list or not I still have the benefit of mailing to it. Obviously I am not going to give away the farm, and am only going to consider serious offers. Which brings me to another point. I am being accused of starting arguments here. I simply make a post about my list and how I would be interested in selling it. I post this on a webmaster board in a forum called "Other Marketing Offers," and this is obviously a marketing offer to gambling webmasters. I do this all in good faith, simply trying to do business. In return, I have your so-called webmasters trying to argue with me and bash what I am doing. It is obvious that no-one posting to this thread had either the interest or the ability to purchase my list, but merely wanted to start an argument. Furthermore, in my initial post I provided an email address so that anyone who wanted to talk to me about the list could contact me. I didn't say, "post your opinions on email marketing to this thread" did I? Regardless, the mistake was mine. I thought I was dealing with webmasters who knew how to make money. Now that's funny!!! Don't worry, this is my last post here. Have fun.

The webmasters were asking legitimate questions, which you chose not to answer.
Ability we have. Ethics we have. Interest we don't have.

Your analogy has no relevance here. Our players choose at all times what they want to do with their money.
Are you giving your "opt-ins" the choice of receiving mail from *anyone* you sell the list to? Is this disclosed to them at the time of their signing up?
Please don't come over and try to start arguments. I won't tolerate it. I think it's pretty clear we're not interested in doing business this way, and we're not interested in your list.
If you are indeed a portal webmaster, then come inside the private forums and show yourself. Otherwise, I have no choice but to believe that you're not a portal webmaster, and I'll deal with that accordingly.
