    Default Pat Justwebsites -Naughty!

PLEASE NOTE THIS SITUATION WITH PAT MCLACHLAN WAS FULLY RESOLVED AND THE COMPLAINT NO LONGER STANDS

Please stop stealing our content. It's annoying!

    http: //justbingoonline.com/fabulous-online-bingo-prizes/309
    http: //justbingonews.com/fabulous-online-bingo-prizes/177

These articles are the same and they both belong to us!

We don't mind if a link to our site (www.bingoparadise.co.uk) is included but to just lift the articles is a tad annoying. Especially given that we pay to have a lot of our articles written.

    Stop it!

    --end of rant.

Jesus, I have had one PM and an email and now this!
Now we will have to do this in the open and you are going to regret it

To start with I would NEVER steal anyones content, I create enough of my own to know how much it pisses people off.

Okay these articles were created by Tom Waite (I guess) and then he added them to ArticlesBase, which is there solely because he WANTS people to take them and add them to their websites.

I use this service to populate the two sites above. The program I use to pull in the articles from Articlesbase ALWAYS pulls in the bio box as well (It is part of the T&Cs from Articlesbase).

This program also REDUCES the size of the bio but RETAINS all necessary links (which is the whole reason for syndicating) So Mr Waite DOES have his links reproduced on my websites, as he could have found out in a friendly manner before accusing people of nasty things in public!

I expect an apology from Tom and wish to know why he didn't discuss it amicably before sullying my name in public......

I've had a reply about this from Pat.
    Quite amusing really...
Apparantly the justbingoonline.com site uses article syndication software which takes the articles from Articlebase.com and reduced the bio size.

It reduces it so much so that on those articles I could not see it. I suppose technically it's still there (if source is viewed) but it hardly serves as credit to the orginal author when it is too small to be read by a human.

It's especially annoying when the link has the rel="nofollow" added too.

The autoblog software has the blessing of Articlresbase and concurs with their T&Cs. Here is a quote from their webpage:

    Automatic Blog Wordpress Plugin

    February 24, 2009 – 3:47 am
Automatic Blog’s WordPress plugin will help you put an end to boring blog postings once and for all.
It’s true! The program works effortlessly by pulling FULL articles from ArticlesBase article directory to your WordPress blog.
Automatic Blog gets fresh new articles each and every day and posts automatically to your blog.
All external links inside these articles have a “nofollow” attribute and target=”_blank” (open links in a new browser window).
You should know, there’s no need to worry about copywrite laws.
Automatic Blog plugin grabs the article with the author resource box, in a format that conforms with the ArticlesBase TOS (Terms of Service).

Technically perhaps your syndication tool is infact crediting the author.

But in practice, no one viewing the articles has any chance of reading the bio lines. They are far too reduced in size. I actually thought they were a pattern.

Surely you would understand Pat, why this comes accross as being rather cheeky.

I'm not trying to have a fall out with you in public but I tend to find when people do things that are less than amicable, (not reasonably crediting peoples efforts), they are more than likely not going to respond to a private email.

Anyway, this is resolved if you remove the articles or make the bio legible. After all, you would'nt publish the whole article in that size would you?..

The answer why being: It would not be read by anyone!

    Thanks

Maybe you should read Articlesbases Terms and Conditions before you allowed your articles to be syndicated......

    The Articlesbase Terms say this:

'You must respect the copyright of each author whose articles you wish to publish. This includes but is not limited to 1. Resource Box, 2. Any links provided by the author - all these links must remain intact and not altered in any way.'

You're altering the links by adding the rel="nofollow"

Whatever you say and whether technically you can get away with it or not, reducing the bio line to such a degree that it cannot be read is not a fair way of playing the game. Theres no debate, it just isn't fair.

    Thanks

+1 just commenting cause I looked at the seo site a few weeks back after a post you made and thought that was pretty underhanded to reduce the font size to pretty well near zero and nofollowing the link..

This was the post I came across - you might as well delete the bio and links

All links from ArticleBase are nofollow, I think. Edit to add: Oops, my mistake. The ones in the resource box aren't - just those in the body of the article.

If the terms at articlebase state that the links must not be altered, and the autoblog software does in fact change them to no-follow then they ARE in fact being altered which would make the softwrae NOT compliant with articlebase terms.

Thanks for your contribution It's the ones in the author bio/resource box that are in question.

This is my feeling too. As I mentioned in post #8 along with a quote from Articlesbase T&C's.

This has irritated me somewhat so I have therefore written to Articlesbase.com to see if the software mentioned in the quote bfrom 'patmcluk' is operating within their T&C's.

From my knowledge it is true that links within the article have a 'nofollow' tag (when published on Articlesbase.com) but links in the bio/resource box, are not 'nofollow' on articlesbase.com, therefore when the bio box/resource box is 'pulled' to the new site where it will be published, it should not be altered, neither by adding 'rel="nofollow' or text size.

I'll post the details of their reply. This is a copy of what I sent

    ---
    Hello.
I would really appreciate an answer to this question.
We are having problems because someone with a site related to ours is using a third party module for Wordpress which essentially 'pulls' articles in full from the Articlesbase.com site.

This would not be a problem, but this module changes the size of the bio so it is not legible and furthermore it adds rel="nofollow" to the links in the bio.

I believe this is against Articlesbase.com terms and conditions. As per: 'Any links provided by the author - all these links must remain intact and not altered in any way.'' http://www.articlesbase.com/terms-of-use

Clearly adding rel='nofollow' and reducing the text size to almost invisible in size is, in two ways, altering the links.

    Please advise.
    Thank you in advance.

IMO the contributing author text is too small and would fulfill the requirements for submitting a spam report. Links are altered, again, into tiny text which does not fulfill the T&C's of Automatic Blog. And Finally IMO this is Black Hat tool developed by xxxxx.

I agree it doesn't look good, but it is common practise with autoblogs and it is not "stealing", especially as you have put the article

As a matter of fact I didn't even know it made them "nofollow" but I assure you that I have not entered anything manually.

I also will contact the autoblog distributor and find out if this is valid.
