Pennsylvania Lottery to test out electronic payment option
Players can now purchase lottery tickets through credit and debit cards in the Harrisburg area to examine the viability of payment option.
Pennsylvania Lottery is testing out the flexibility of payment options. The test has been carried out as Pennsylvanians don’t carry enough cash; hence face an obstacle to play the lottery.
"We've been hearing from Lottery players for years asking for an electronic payment option," said PA Lottery spokesman Gary Miller. "Consumers, increasingly, are using electronic payment for all types of retail purchases."
A survey was taken, Miller said, it revealed 60 percent of people carried not more than $20 in cash and 18 percent of people didn’t carry cash at all.
He said- “That leaves very few consumers walking around with cash to play the Lottery" Lottery vendors have always accepted cash for ticket payments. Miller said now it is up to retailers in what forms of payment will they accept in Pennsylvania. Quite a few number of stores have already started accepting cards as a payment option.
