Default Peru inches closer to regulating sports betting and online gambling

A bill that will regulate online gambling and sports betting in Peru is going through its final stages before becoming law.

Manuel San Román Benavente, general director of Casinos and Slot Machines of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru, said this week that the governing body finished closing the tax issue with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, one of the few that were pending.

    From El Diario del Juego:

During an interview with El Diario del Juego, the official said that “it has already been established that the tax on online gambling and sports betting will be 12 percent of the net winnings. There are also two percent that can be discounted by platforms, prior to the payment of 12 percent, for reasons of maintenance of networks and systems. In addition, a selective consumption tax of 1 percent will be applied with respect to each bet. That is the proposal that should enter the Congress, ”he explained.

The bill will now have to go through different circuits, such as the council of Vice Ministers, an entity that has the power to endorse and comment on all the projects issued by the executive. San Román points out that if or there are observations by any of the vice ministers, the executive would already have the finished project in his hands and will only be sent to the congress for treatment and eventual approval. “I believe that the issue that delayed us the most was the tax issue; Explain to the Ministry of Economy and Finance what the philosophy of this system is, how the theme of the game is, what the platforms are like, what the suppliers are like and what the systems are that they want to implement, therefore what we need once approved This law, and we are already working, is what refers to its regulation, he said.

In the meantime, there are already several companies that are operating in Peru offers online games and sports betting, including five of them, Intralot, Total Betting, Betsan, Dorado Bet and Live Sport, formed the Peruvian Association of Online Sports Betting and Related (Apadela), with a view to being prepared for future regulation. San Román explains that, in addition to these five, there are more companies that are working in the country and that the Mincetur recommended that, although there is no prohibition to operate in the country, the least they have to do is form a business name and Pay the income tax.

Sorry but nothing to ridicule here.... Peru is one of the oldest, biggest and most developed markets in Latin America. Half of my revenue these days comes from Peru. They just lack a legal frame

"any form of publicity or disclosure of bets with a fixed fee by any natural or legal person, except those authorized by the operator, is prohibited." very very good for legal world
