Who is planning to go to CAC Amsterdam - April 15-16? It is free for affiliates. I hope to be there, but it is not yet 100%.

I'm going. But I'd go to Amsterdam because I love the city and for the social aspect even if only a handful of others wereActually, teh smaller nature of last year's CAC was quite good because it meant you had time to see everyone.
I'm a bit worried that Marc hasn't really sold this one much but I quite like the look of the SEO sessions that are the focus of the conference so I think this time I may be in more sessions than normal.
The conference is free to affs but unless you find your own sponsor, you get allocated one when you register which personally I'm not a fan of. Imagine getting lumbered as a sponsored affiliate of that Manhattan Slots mob! Going to find my own.
What's wrong getting associated with the Manhattan Slots mob? After all, Martyn is selling Viagra cheap. I am sure he will sell it to us even cheaper, so we can make an extra side business reselling viagra in Amsterdam to recover travel and accomodation costs.
Now seriously, does it mean we must find a sponsor before registering?
Nope, I refuse to support an operation directly involved with unethical behaviors. To all those who will be attending - thanks; its that kind of selfishness that will assure nothing ever changes.
I'm going![]()

Nope, Marc Lesnick the organizer of CAC, has for years run an online forum where he permits members to make post about player databases - no doubt over the years he has been directly responsible for millions of SPAM messages within this industry. I get SPAMMED weekly if not daily - I can't help but wonder how many of those are a result of Marc's industry irresponsibility!
A few years ago I convinced Michael to get in touch with Marc and see what could be done - obviously it wasn't that important to Marc - the unethical activities have never ceased and the database transactions continue.
Continue to support the event, the man, & IMO you are supporting the SPAM! Sorry guys - if you truly want to make a positive difference - you need to stop tolerating stuff like this and to do that you can't ignore it.
The organizer actually has a long history of unethical behavior if anyone cared its easy to uncover; simply put not many care because another party is of benefit to them personally, even if it supports something we dont need nor want.
It would be my first time to a CAC I went to London LAC and had a great time and met some great WM and we all exchanged some cool ideas (in the bars)
I have been to Amsterdam a few times and loved it - never for biz tho
How many people do you think will be there?
There are many ways to make a positive difference, if indeed one wants to. Boycotting is one. Talking face to face is another. Plenty of other ways too.
I totally agree transgressions should be made public to people they affect, but for me there has to come a time when you let sleeping dogs lie and do what's right for you. This isn't aimed specifically at you Arkyt: just a general observation:
The forums seem to be full of vitriol at the moment - there are lots of posters who seem to want to blame someone else for something or just shout their mouths off. Some posts are well thought out, legitimate and represent fair opinions. In other cases it's a genuine overflow of emotion, some people are simply confrontational and others really want to try and "make a positive difference". Fair play to them. Each can achieve something I guess (if only to warn you about a poster's mental state LOL).
Anyway, I digress. Bottom line is I'll make my own decisions about what I do, and what I think of other people. If I think CAP has paid the price, then that's my opinion and while I'll happily listen to people's opinions, it's not your right or anyone else's to call me selfish or any other names because you disagree with me.
I'll be going to CAC. And I'll be going to CAP. If you want to label me or call me names, I can't stop you. But you're basing that course of action without knowing or understanding my reasoning and I have no intention of trying to "prove" myself worthy of your (or anyone's) respect.
Hey ho, TGIF eh
Cheers,

I have the feeling that not many affiliates will go to Amsterdam. I am still undecided whether to go.
Agreed
I will decide within the next 72 hours if i am going to Amsterdam or Prague, i am definately going to one, most likely Amsterdam and not because of the wacky baccy either.
For me it is about timing, Prague is just too close to the World Cup for my liking and is hard to justify the time away.
But that provides a secondary problem in that from what i can gather Amsterdam is not going to be as well attended as Prague so either choice presents issues for me.
I will make my decision based on these factors and not who runs a conference or who provides the sandwiches and so on.
I understand Arkyt's opinion and respect it in fact, but i cannot worry what people think of me and the decisions i make.
I am also getting a little fed up with others passing judgement on what others do and such like and being branded all sorts from unethical to aiding and abetting theft and so forth.
I could write an entire book on the hypocrisy of this industry but after London and the various people that attended that after massive grandstanding before the event it became obvious to me that very few in this industry actually walk the walk.
If you want to follow the crowd and not make your own decisions that is your choice in the same way that those that do not follow the crowd make their own decision.
I intend to do neither, i am not a dumb person no matter what some may suspect and all my decisions are based on what is good for my business and pays for my house, puts food on my childrens table and pays the horrendous medical bills i am lumbered with.
Does that mean that i will do anything, no it does not, i wont ruin my own business through bad decisions but i will make my own judgements and i will live with those decisions.
I just wish that when people come out against what others do that they would put a point of view across without branding people, it does not give your point of view any added weight, all it does is derail debate and cause friction.

It is becoming more and more evident that Prague will have a better attendance than Amsterdam. But will it have also a better quality, seen from the point of view of affiliates? I have attended at least a hundred of big and very big conferences throughout the world in different industries, and it is my experience that if you don't belong to the category of big fish, small gatherings with better chance of discussions etc. are far more productive.
