    Default Poker Sites Banned?

Did anyone read this thread over at Digital Point or CAP? Casinodave at CAP first posted this.

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=921840

Some very large poker affiliates where just slapped by Google and taken out of the top 10 SERPs for their own name. Also many poker blogs that had paid links to these sites vanished over night. It looks like google has figured out a way to know when sites are buying links. They obviously started with the Poker sites but could easily move on to other niches. Google also said that re inclusion is possible but by slapping everybody they are definitely sending a message.

What is your opinion of this?

Default That's a bold move from Google.

That's a drastic move from Google. Due to the amount of money involved they must have a solid way of finding out who's buying links.

Where do you draw the line between buying links and white hat marketting? Let's say I buy a "blog review" which is intended for traffic (and link juice for most ). Is that outright reason to get banned?

I wish Google would be clearer on this point.

This has been a pretty big topic at the World Series of Poker. Apparently, there are a number of issues here. Google doesn't want to index the paid links, which they consider advertising. So the folks who used the no follow tags weren't affected. Second, many of these sites were using the google ad service, and google didn't like their ads showing up on pages with paid gambling links (apparently, someone complained about it). The rest of it you know about. There are a lot of unhappy bloggers here. People buying links from them was a pretty decent source of income.
