Pokeraffiliate / BWin - Rogue?

Seriously rogue-ish behavior.

They gave players the chance of transferring accounts from pokeraffiliate to bwin poker but it seems like they weren't forced to and they also didn't ask us to open a Bwin aff account so we are goign to lose all players as of April 1.

Another Grand Prive style move.

What possible hassle could it be for them to just keep pokeraffiliate accounts open?

This in my opinion makes bwin a rogue program.

The bwin group, owner of EuroPoker.com and PokerRoom.com, has decided to centre its Affiliate Marketing efforts on bwin.com.
As we have previously informed you, all Marketing Agreements with PokerAffiliate.com were terminated as of 30th November 2008, in accordance with Clause 17.2. of our Terms and Conditions.
In accordance with Clause 18.e of our Terms and Conditions, you will continue to earn commission until 31st March. Please be aware that you will receive your last automated payment on 1st April 2009.

On the face of this it is not good at all from bwin

I do have one question, are they acting within the terms and conditions that they have outlined in their email?

I ask because if they are i do not think it makes them rogue

That said, not to honour affiliate accounts even if they are covered by some terms and conditions is absolutely wrong and if affiliates choose to rubbish them i for one cannot blame them.

For a company so rich to pull a stunt like this defies belief, one must wonder what goes on in their PR departments and for that matter their marketing department.

How they expect to encourage new affiliates with this behaviour is beyond me.

Actually you're right- they are acting within the terms that allows them to pretty much shut down as they please. Technically speaking that is not rogue behavior. Practically speaking it is.

What happens to accounts that have funds in them that are below the minimum payment thresholds?

Are they planning on paying those amounts no matter how small?

I think some online casino reviewers and affiliate program watcher should start to blacklist them. It would help for those who're still in their program.

We were/are given the opportunity to migrate our players. Read the email from March 11:

On what basis?

From my understanding they have done nothing to contravene their rules and after further info re pokerkeep you are allowed to keep your affiliates.

This could be a case of some-one not opening an email? its easly done!

It reminds me of recent news item where a council employee in the UK failed to open an email about the degrading of Icelandic banks last October, and as a result the council looks as if it has lost 10 million GBP! :pray:

Should the the original post be true I would be very concerned about supporting BWin's program.

I certainly don't recall seeing an email but its possible that I missed it.

Regardless, taking any account from an affiliate under any circumstance is wrong.

I agree that it does not warrant any further discussion but to say that I would be cautious of bwin.

I have been an affiliate of both Poker Room, and Bwin. I got all those emails as well, and knew well in advance what they were doing.

I personally think, if you discuss your concerns with your affiliate manager they will be more than willing to accomodate you and ease your concerns.

Did you at least attempt to contact them before calling them roguess??

Bwin has always been top notch for me, except they have a really poor affiliate backend which needs great improvement.

Overall i find them to be decent, and helpful. i give them 7.5/10

They are above board and i don't think have done anything wrong here.

I think its important to choose words when you post. The word rogue is tossed around to much, but i do understand why.

There are certainly many types of rogue behaviours in this industry today.

BWIN is not one of them....

I would reccomend BWIN to any affiliate without hesitation, but would inform them it needs a bit of improvement.

I have already admitted that calling them rogue is incorrect.

I still maintain that what they are doing is wrong. There is absolutely no reason to ever stop paying affiliates. NEVER.

Sure I have contacted them and sure they may make an exception in my case. That's even worse. "We'll screw over the affiliates who don't bother contacting us. ".

They may be nice people, but what they are doing is NOT nice.

I see nothing wrong with their actions. Every affiliate is/was given the opportunity to retain their players simply by setting up an affiliate account with BWin.

They could have just closed our accounts, migrated the player base and kept our players. that would have been a rogue move. Notifying their affiliates and offering us the opportunity to retain our players is an honorable way to conduct themselves.

If an affiliate does not care enough about his/her business to take the time to set up an account and send an email, BWin can hardly be blamed. I'm curious, why do you say they made an exception in your case?

An example of affiliates getting screwed:
Bugsy's Club announced last week that they were closing. All players were being moved over to PokerStars. As a result, we lose our rev. share from these players forever. (Stars is CPA only)
Bugsy's did not email affiliates, they simply posted a notice on their home page - completely unprofessional!

My understanding is that pokerroom will remain available for existing players. What about the ones who did not migrate and do so after April 1?

I don't see an option anywhere for players to continue playing on PokerRoom. If Bwin is leaving the poker PokerRoom client functional for a period of time, but switching the back end over to Bwin, you will still be credited for the players.

Decent programs should automatically transfer affiliate accounts and players to another entity (especially when both programs belongs to the same company).

Rogues like BWin force affiliates to do the job, hoping that they will forget or will not get the info (I didn't get their e-mail). As a result they got more than 500 my players for free and I'm screwed :(.

Exactly my point.

The only email I expect is one that says here you go. here is the new account, with your players in it. It''s a no brainer for them to do.

Any other way of doing it could be interpreted as being devious.

Thats nothing, I have been promoting a bwin casino for over a moth after I asked for stats they tald me this tracker has expired LOL :evillaug::lalala::joy: so ******* idiotic.

do not waste your time with them.

I Really enjoy working for Bwin. have for almost a year now. They convert decently and players like them. Mind you they are having problems with new software.. but besides that its smooth smooth smooth.

Always paid to perfection - but they only do wires.. that take about 2 3 weeks.

I hope the use more civilized payment methods such as Money Bookers soon as they id say they would a few months back.

Over all for me they are the most generous program for poker i have. A very great deal!!!!:evillaug::evillaug:

When i want any games, they are done... when i email them i get replied fast..

Pleasant well manners, and just all around good to work with.

Trackers if they are about to expire just need to remind them...
