Default PokerStars in merger talks with William Hill

Amaya said itís in talks on an all-stock merger with bookmaker William Hill to create a company with a wide range of online betting options.

    According to Bloomberg:

Amaya has been reviewing its strategic options since February, and William Hill has been looking for ways to move beyond bookmaking into digital and international businesses, the companies said Friday in a statement . . . A merger would conclude a roller-coaster ride for both companies this year. William Hill got a takeover offer in July from 888 Holdings Plc and Rank Group Plc, but talks fell apart. Amaya Chief Executive Officer David Baazov stepped down earlier this year amid an insider trading probe and pledged to try and take the company private himself.

I completely agree with you. Wouldn't like this merge as PokerStars is the monopolist in online poker, that won't work well in sports betting for sure.

Terrible news for Aussies if true. I am pretty sure that would mean Australians could no longer play on the site.
