Portugal has moved to restrict access to Polymarket, treating it as unlicensed gambling. The country's gambling regulator, the Serviço de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos (SRIJ), told local media that it had only recently become aware of the prediction-market operator, and stated that it is not authorized to provide betting services in Portugal.

From ECO:

The decision, taken in recent days, comes after ECO published an article revealing that bets surrounding the presidential elections had already moved more than 90 million euros through this platform, in a phenomenon that mixes decentralized finance, speculation and a new way of measuring collective sentiment.
The Legal Regime for Online Games and Betting ( RJO ), which came into force in June 2015, only authorizes betting in three expressly foreseen categories: sports, casino, and horse racing. Political events, such as elections, are not included in this range, which makes them expressly illegal for commercial betting purposes, as is the case with Polymarket.
