Press release:

Virgin Games launches Virgin Bets

Virgin Games (www.virgingames.com) today announced the launch of its new betting service, Virgin Bets (www.virginbets.com), designed to capitalize on the growing public interest in entertainment and ‘novelty’ bets.

Virgin Bets aims to offer a straightforward betting service for people looking for a bit of entertainment, whether they want a casual punt on the UEFA Champions League or a fun flutter on the winner of this year’s Big Brother.
Virgin Bets has been created in association with Betfair and will initially offer markets in Entertainment, Football, Cricket, Golf, Greyhounds, Motor Sport, Rugby and Tennis, with Horseracing to be added later this year.

Simon Burridge, CEO of Virgin Games, said:

Virgin Games is all about fun and entertainment, so novelty betting is a good fit for the brand. Although entertainment betting is seen as a sideline by most of the traditional bookies, we believe it is a market with huge potential. Every year, millions of people spend millions of pounds phoning and texting votes into reality TV shows. Virgin Bets will give these reality TV experts a chance to back their favorite contestants and share the winning feeling.

“Virgin Bets is designed to be as simple as possible so that casual players who are put off by the complexity of traditional online gambling will find it easy and fun to place their bets. Also, because we have partnered with Betfair, most of the time our odds will be better value than traditional bookies, meaning punters can place their bets with confidence that they are getting the best deal.”

Mathias Entenmann, Betfair’s Managing Director, Exchange, said:

We are extremely pleased that Virgin has recognized Betfair as an industry leader and selected us to work with them on Virgin Bets. Betfair’s exchange will allow Virgin Bets to enable a range of sports and entertainment betting and ensure that the service offers the best value to its customers.”
